Thought it would be interesting and a bit of a laugh to see what everyone's most/least favourite things about being a fan of ESC/JESC are. For me:

Positives:
- Getting to hear great new music from acts you wouldn't know about
- Making new friends from all over the world

Negatives:
- Being branded 'a bit odd' for liking the contest
- PED, and the long wait for the show every year

Feel free to add yours :)

    Great thread!

    Positives -

    - Discovering new artists, and music from all over the world
    - I agree, making new friends from all over the world
    - More cultural awareness
    - Enhanced knowledge of a map of Europe lol :p
    - Listening to, and learning new languages

    Negatives -

    - Reactions from others, when you tell them you are a fan of Eurovision, and especially people not understanding how it is possible to be a fan of Eurovision.
    - Hearing the 'p' word!
    - Listening to others moan during/after the voting

Haha! I used to hate the voting too - but you can make it a bit more enjoyable by setting up your very own drinking game. Everytime someone says "amazing show", "our neighbours", or sings part of a song - you take a drink. Drunkenness guaranteed! :D

    A few more to add:

    - An excuse to travel to other European countries! Since travelling to Copenhagen and Malta this year, and loving being at the shows so much, I've decided that I want to try and get to as many Eurovision-related events as possible. The travel bug has definitely gotten to me!

    - Having a better chance with the 'countries' or 'capital cities' rounds on Pointless and other quiz shows... :p
