Hilda Ogden was excited about her hens laying eggs, Rita was trying to palm some knock-off Easter stuff off, and Alf had a go at Annie. Oh, and someone bought a wig.

It's hard to believe from those synopses that it's still going over 30 years later.

Terry tries to get the graffiti off the Jaguar but it needs a new spray job. When Mike returns, Terry shows him the car, letting him believe the graffiti is a warning for him. Mike is horrified and gets it re-sprayed quickly. When she doesn't hear from Alan about the Yard, Rita decides to see her solicitor. Mike confides in Terry that he's been seeing a married woman. Terry is certain he's got away with it. Rita is upset to receive a brief informal note from Alan saying he's vacating the Yard. Gloria feels awful as she's fallen for Pete Shaw. He tells her he really likes her and wants to see more of her. Sandra Stubbs calls on Gloria whilst Pete's in her flat. She manages to get rid of Sandra without making her suspicious but feels rotten.

(and the funny thing is, my mum was watching Corrie as she went into labour, though i suppose that must have been the day before since she would have been a bit too busy to watch whilst the episode above was on)
Thats exactly what happened the day (before) I was born, a month earlier (23/11/88)

I'd far rather watch these than what they're churning out now... classic characters doing their stuff, brilliant.

Interesting that we've had a couple of duplicates already!

two days before I was born...

Episode 1737, 7th September 1977Ken asks Peter if he and Susan would like to live in Weatherfield. Bet and Dawn Perks clash behind the bar. Peter can't decide whether or not to live with Ken. He tells Ken he'd like to but Ken feels he's not sure. Annie plans to visit Billy in Jersey. She asks Bet to get on with Dawn in her absence. Ken tells Peter he knows he doesn't want to live with him. Peter says he'd miss Glasgow too much. Annie goes to Jersey leaving Bet in charge. Bet orders an annoyed Dawn to empty the ashtrays.

However, 10 days after I was born is a classic episode, which is coincidentally the first episode I caught on Granada Plus re-runs in the 1990s...

Episode 1740, 19th September 1977returns from Jersey. Hilda discovers Annie's carpet is a cut-off from the Alhambra Weatherfield Bingo Hall, hence the monogram "AW". Bet warns her not to tell Annie. Betty agrees to return to the Rovers as senior barmaid. Annie decides to throw a sherry morning for the Lady Victuallers to show off the carpet. Alf helps Renee with her VAT. Elsie is furious when Rita refuses to refund her for a pair of tights when they ladder. Rita is livid when Len gives Elsie another pair. Alf takes Renee for a ride in the country.

My 10th birthday co-incided with Alec and Bet's wedding. I had a family day trip to Blackpool, and have never seen the episode!

    Episode 3436 (11th September 1992)

Jack does a good job renovating the cot. Rita doesn't really have to arrange anything as Ted did it all before he died. Bet visits Vicky at school to explain what's happened. Bet assures her she'll always be welcome in the Rovers and she's still married to Alec. Vicky is relieved it's not all over. Ivy tells Gail she's upset at never being asked to babysit. Rita registers Ted's death. Vera tells Jack he's going to have to get rid of his pigeons as they're a health risk to the baby.

Jack meets Dulcie Froggatt on his new window-cleaning round. They flirt with each other and he starts to enjoy his work. Gordon Lewis puts his application in to the brewery for the Rovers. Bill and Elaine return from London to the news that she's to sail from Southampton in two days as a hairdresser on a cruise ship. Betty feels she's too old to take on the Rovers. Jack spends the afternoon with Dulcie and enjoys Vera's attention when she feels sorry for him having worked all day. Rita agrees to go out with Tony Cunliffe. Mike advises Bet to apply for the Rovers licence herself. Never having considered the idea, Bet is intrigued at the thought. Elaine tells Bill she'd rather marry him than go to sea.

The Faircloughs buy Sharon some earrings and a tool kit for her birthday. The wheels are nicked off Alec's van whilst he sleeps in it. Ron Sykes reveals Brian is homesick and didn't want to come home as he's getting settled and doesn't want to be disturbed again. Gail has a phone installed at the house. Len and Rita spoil Sharon's party by their presence. Sharon convinces them to leave them to it. Ron tells Gail that Brian is missing her but couldn't get leave. At the party Sharon is pleased when Steve Dunthorne tells her he fancies her. She is annoyed when her brother Wayne Gaskell turns up and starts causing trouble. Betty offers Alec the £40 back so he can get some new wheels and he accepts. When Wayne starts a fight with Steve, Sharon gets Len to return and sort Wayne out. Alec agrees to stay with Betty until his van is repaired. When all the guests are gone, Steve tries to get Sharon upstairs. Len throws him out, upsetting Sharon. Gail phones Brian and discovers he's in Cairo on leave.

Clearly the bit in bold is the most exciting bit. Gripping! :D

Corrie was on the day I was born (6 January 1982):

Elsie starts to make the running with Wilf Stockwell. Fred tries to organise a night out with Alf to take his mind off things. Emily continues to be generous with Arnold's bequest.

Mike is worried when Frankie stays out all night. Sylvie arrives and tells him Frankie said he was going back to London. Wilf rings Elsie and she invites him around. Ken tells Emily he will investigate prices of trampolines. Mike rings Frankie and assures him there is nothing between him and Sylvie. Elsie cooks Wilf a meal, and tells him Mike wants them to stop seeing each other. Wilf agrees it is none of Mike's business. Vera and Ida come around snooping but Elsie sends them away. Wilf tells Elsie he will ring her that evening. Fred suggests to Alf that they have a night out to meet some birds.

Emily gives Deirdre a cheque for £1200, for Ken to buy the trampoline. She tells Alf she would like to give the remaining £800 to endow a bed at the hospital in Ernest's name. Mike takes Sylvie to the Rovers for a farewell drink - she is catching a train to London. He gives her a cheque for £500 to pay off Frankie's debts. Elsie is concerned when Wilf fails to ring her as arranged. When Betty arrives for work at the Rovers, Fred tells her that her son Gordon has rung to say he will be visiting her the next day.

Edit - Didnt see we were doing dates

    6th April 1983.
On the day after I was born it seems to be all about the petition to stop the disco.

Emily starts it. Ken puts a poster in the shop window, annoying Alf. Hilda gets a job at the disco and Newton & Ridley are supplying it with beer.

I doubt my Mum taped it.
