But it looks like it uses a standard micro USB cable.
size....... but I just cant get the plug in
Im wondering was there a special cable for the kindle ?
I bought mine over a year ago so cant remember
a white plug came with it and the usb plug fits into the white plug which goes into the mains .
Just unpluged that usb plug from the 3 pin socket.... plugged it into the comp
and bingo .................. prob solved !
Its been so long since I did all this... Id forgotten !
you put it into the sunlight and a red light comes on as it charges up
it can then deliver 5 volt... 7.5 v or 9.5 v
(I think the comp delivers 5 volts to devices such as mp3 players and prob camcorders too.)
The charger worked ok, I charged my mp3 player once or twice which saved having to turn on my comp to do it.
But 4 weeks ago the thing went dead..
no charge into my mp3 player, no red light when put in the sun.
Its back to Liddl to try and get back my £9,99p !
No its not.
According to this it is

I reckon lots of people have spent a tenner on the official cable so have convinced themselves it's special. Naturally these will be consumers who normally buy apple products.
Yes, it is.
If you only want to charge it up quicker, get a mains to usb plug, about £2 on Fleabay.
Quote; Micro-USB/power port: You can use the supplied USB cable to connect your Kindle to a computer for charging the battery and transferring files, including personal documents, to your Kindle.
If I'm travelling I take the Kindle micro-usb cable or the micro-usb that came with my phone, doesn't make any difference.
Yep, it still is. It's exactly the same as my Samsung micro USB connector and various others. Kindle is micro usb.
I'm wondering if some folk are getting micro and mini usb connections mixed up...
I wonder that too from some of the descriptions given

Ok, hands up I was wrong, but note their are different micro USBs, eg Kindle Fire HD.its not a universal size/pins.
Micro USB is a standard, so it doesn't vary in size/shape!
My Garmin GPS's (and some other units) though use an almost identical connector which is slightly fatter.
Kindle Fire HD uses the same plug as normal Kindles (I have both).
Aha - an explanation for the earlier confusing opinions may be about to emerge. Many Garmin units use mini USB, not micro. A different plug.
A quick look on E-bay shows some micro usb cables say "Will not be suitable for Kindle Fire HD.
