Favourite Fast Show characters

As there are a couple of Fast Show specials coming soon, thought it would be a good time to recall our favourite characters from the show.

Here's a list of regular characters, although there are some I can remember which don't seem to be on this list.

There are so many I like, it's difficult to narrow it down to a reasonable size list, but here are few of my favourites. (Note. It does not necessarily have to be single characters, as some characters always appeared with others)

Ted and Ralph
Competitive Dad
Colin Hunt
I'll Get Me Coat
Louis Balfour (Jazz Club)

Pretty much all of them. A master class in comic character creation and script imo.

I think the school girl Caroline Aherne does is one of her best characters, I just remember being really young when it was on and thinking that she was exactly like some girls at school.

And I love Roy and Renée.

    Heh, yes:

Renee: Oh I got a really dicky tummy on the Wednesday, I said oh Roy, my tummy’s off- what did I say Roy?
Roy: You said you could have shit through the eye of a needle.

    I liked Jesse's Diets, and Jesse's Fashions.

Probably go for Ted and Ralph, but there were so many. Looking forward to Monkfish in a costume drama setting based on a certain ITV drama in the new show. :D

I loved The Fast Show. As well as being very funny, it was also moving at times -

The cockney character, I think his name was Chris.
There was a sketch in a Christmas show where he was going to steal the little girls Christmas presents, but in the end he just couldn't do it ! That was brilliant.

There was a sketch with Rowley Birkin where he was softly talking about his late wife (I think).
His eyes filled up with tears, and so did mine !

Yes there were a few like that at the end. He was talking about someone dying in his arms. It was a wonderful piece of acting by Paul Whitehouse.

There was also the very last scene of Ted and Ralph, after Ted's wife's funeral and just as the camera moves away, in the distance Ted's legs give way and Ralph catches him. It was so moving.
