We have sky sports news with 24 hour rolling topics, so was thinking as the bbc do sport quite well to. Although not on the scale of sky. Would a rolling 24 bbc sports news channel do well, with bbc three leaving us in next couple of years could that be used for it

Actually the red button (Sky 980) isn't far off in many regards to a BBC Sports Channel - I know it shows other programmes other than sport, but there is a lot of sport overflow on it already and also repeats/highlights of previously live events

Yeah, they don't even have enough Saturday afternoon content now, that's why Grandstand got axed.

Not likely, not only are they stretched for cash with the licence fee freeze/extra responsibilities they've been saddled with, it would surely be turned down by the BBC Trust to avoid accusations from the likes of Sky that the Beeb were unfairly competing against the commercial market by providing such a service.

If people actually read the original post. A suggestion for a BBC Sport News channel was made, not a BBC Sport channel. You don't need to buy sporting rights for that. Granted it will never happen but you are all being critical for the wrong reason.
