I may bebiased - but I loved some of the fantasy kids shows in the 1970s... so much more inspirign than modern day cartoons...

Does anyone remember....

Timeslip
Changes
I'm sure loads of you remember the Tomorrow People,
and I even managed to get a DVD of Children of the Stones (my kids loved it)

But... my favourite of all... was
ACE OF WANDS - anyone remember it, heard of it?

Happy reminiscing

You can buy Timeslip on DVD, not only has it been released in the Uk more than two years ago, it was also released in the US last year. :)

I know over at the Mausoleum Club site the lack of a DVD release of Ace of Wands has been debated widely.

The US Timeslip release even comes with a bonus documentary missing from the R2 set that features a reunion of the cast.
Ace of Wands is a planned release from Network, but its been that way for a few years so whether it will ever arrive is unknown

Considering that Thames "wiped" the first 2 seasons of Ace of Wands in the 1970's, it's likely that if ever Ace of Wands does make it to DVD, it will be limited to parts of Season 3 only....
The main problem is that the last story "The Beautiful People" has a nasty interference pattern on the only source copy, near the end, & until they can somehow remove it electronically for a reasonable cost, it's unlikely to turn up....
I suspect that someone's copied the "bootleg" VHS tape, that turned up a couple of years ago, onto DVD, & is trying to sell it....

Was Changes the one where people reacted against electricity, and the world went back to medieval times? or am I thinking of something else?

    Hi

Yes that was Changes, I was only about 7 but still remember being terrified by it.

The basic premise as you say was that all the adults rebelled against technology.

There was a young girl who solved the mystery of the "changes" that it was caused by a mysterious Stone that had links with Merlin.

    check out this link

    cheers

What about Children of the stones - spooky stuff when I was a kid - and had the excellent Iain Cuthbertson too!

My VHS of The Beautiful People has no interference.
But there is a video roll on the opening titles of Peacock Pie:1.
IIRC Ace of Wands s1 and 2 exist in B&W telerecordings even though the original colour VT were wiped

I have the DD recorded from ITV circa 1989.
    Have transferred them to dvd.

Some sellers offer DD bootlegs on ebay (not me).

I used to watch one called The Electric Company. a bit like a poor mans Sesame Street I suppose.

There was a cartoon in the Watch With Mother strand called Joe about a lad who's parents were separated. No-one else of my age I talk to remembers it.

I also really enjoyed Tom's Midnight Garden, God's Wonderful Railway and Kizzie.

For those outside of 'Meridian' region, Fred Dineage presents 'Meridian Tonight' these days, and I believe is still a director of Portsmouth FC
