Having looked at some of my recordings from the 2009 World T20 (held in England), it was ESPN/Star that did everything, and Ive noted they had the ghastly split screens then!

I just didnt notice as I was going to the games instead of watching them on TV!

Asian broadcasters think gimmicks are cool as they dont put the viewers needs first.

I wish Sky could use their own on-screen graphics rather than the ones ESPN/Star are using.

I think the graphics are fine, but the split screen really is pointless. If you want to use the second angle after on a replay to help with analysis, then great. But whenever they do the split screen my eyes are automatically drawn to the conventional angle anyway

i been watching the studio stuff from them but the actual game on Sky, too many adverts during the game.

KP has the most unsuitable voice for TV! Slightly camp, and high pitched, with the SA accent - it wont go down too well with UK based viewers, but in places like Asia where English isnt their first language, and celebrity is everything, I'm sure he will go down a storm.

Watching any sporting event on TV in the subcontinent is an awful experience for the viewers - incessant ads, celebs in prominent positions, ex-players who cant communicate getting plum commentary posts.

As a side point, what a disaster this tournament is from a crowd point of view - all games played in virtually deserted stadia/grounds!

I read that you can buy a family ticket for 4 people for less than £1 for ALL games, and the tickets for the final are only £1.50!!!

people are watching it for KP Watch, people are eager to hear what he has to say about ECB and England players.
it is being reported he is being payed 1M pounds for this stint, lot of money for commentator/pundit.

That's obscene money for someone who has zero broadcasting experience.

But he is very well aware that his true worth is in the Indian market. He thinks he is bigger than English cricket.

Next I expect him to feature in a Bollywood film or sing a song or Indian Idol as a judge.

He is a sell out / mercenary - so he'll do anything for $$$, even uproot from his own country to make it abroad!

Firstly, there is no need for commentators on a match to come from one of the competing countries, if anything it improves the commentary as there is less cheerleading. Who cares about nationality, I just want the best commentators regardless of where they come from. Secondly, Pommie Mgbangwa (who commentated on the game) is supersports lead cricket presenter and commentator. He may be Zimbabwean, but he's commentated on every south African home international for the past 6-8yrs, so frankly I don't understand your criticism?

Finally I've never watched an Indian match without Indian commentators, but have no doubt that it would improve the experience. With the exception of Harsha Bhogle they tend towards the Ravi Shastri style of peddling cliches and telling you, loudly, exactly what you can see on the screen (and some seem to be little more than BCCI mouthpieces).

to be clear those were not my views their were pat symcox, also these supersports commentators do whinge a lot, Ackerman was complaining all the time about sky sports commentators during the summer.

This is not true for football. While on holiday in India I have watched football on ESPN and ESPN Star Sports - a single match on TEN as well if I remember correctly. The pundits are usually good and the commentators are the same you get in the west. There aren't any untimely ads either.

I cannot comment on the cricket coverage there as I have only ever watched cricket on Sky Sports, but I'm not surprised if what you say is correct, because there are a lot of ads on TV in India.

For the football they just take the EPL / FA world feed hence the English commentators many of whom also do matches on ITV or MOTD etc.

Cricket is produced and filmed locally hence the dodgy filming and rubbish commentators and presenters.

I much prefer the studio analysis from ESPN/Star Sports, Sky did need to adopt this style but lose the silly sponsorship/stings that ruin otherwise quality coverage from Star.

yeah Star Sports are excellent from an analysis point of view, they are the equivalent of Sky sports but more reliant on Advertising, been impressed by KP as a pundit, also sky can't really have the same level of studio analysis since star cricket are having 2 hours build up to the games and 2 hours after the game.

It shows how massive cricket is in India with multiple full time channels. Unless Sky do as with F1 and have a 24 hour dedicated channels you won't get that level of pre and post game coverage they don't even give that to EPL.

When matching TV out in India they had 2 channels which just seemed to be 24/7 cricket debate and phone ins with no live coverage that was on other channels.
