Freesat's widely respected MD Emma Scott is leaving the company after seven years.
Scott has been a fundamental part in building Freesat to its current place in the UK TV market but will leaving at the end of 2014.
"Creating a successful new TV platform has been an exhilarating journey but it is now time for me to seek new challenges in the digital media industries," said Scott.
She will be replaced by current FD Alistair Thom, formerly of BSkyB and KPMG.
Freesat is closing in on being in 2 million UK homes offering subs free satellite television, but is facing an increasingly competitive television market.

[Tin Hat]Has she been poached by BSkyB?![/Tin Hat]
You think so?, the trade certainly don't
Freesat managed to launch, and perform fairly well DESPITE Emma Scott, not BECAUSE of her
They even had to bring someone else in to make the launch happen, an ex-Panasonic guy if I remember correctly?.
She's got the tenacity and drive to make something a success. Freesat was 'destined' to fail and look at it now, in well over 2m homes as the primary TV and many many more a secondary.
She leaves it in great shape and on solid footing.
Good luck to her!

...looks like it's you with the woody, which is kind of creepy.
Well, when you consider that the OFCOM surveys are not an entire blanket of the UK (That not the entire population replies or even enters them) 2m would not be off the mark at all.
Its in 3.84m homes currently, so how is that creepy?
Wrong - they reckon they have 3.84m viewers NOT homes.
It seems popeye13's reading ability is about on a par with his polite use of the English language.
How mature.......!
My bad...

That survey rather proves how absolutely useless surveys are
Sky have in excess of 10 million subscribers, so that figures is too low - but the ex-Sky (no sub) figures is completely ludicrous, in practice it's probably not far short of the number of subscribers, but certainly well in the millions.
On those figures presumably the Freesat (and all other) numbers is badly under estimated as well?.
Here are official Sky figures from 2013, probably a 'little' higher than that now?

That's good news for Freesat's Freetime, isn't it?
The task for the new management team at Freesat for 2015-2016 ought to be to increase the number of Freesat linear channels and to recruit more online offerings, such as Netflix, Amazon Instant, HBO, etc. to Freetime.
Emma Scott said that Freesat had no intention of showing premium sports and that's probably a good idea to stick with that strategy otherwise Sky really would try and go all out to kill off Freesat. That said, I wouldn't be opposed to Eurosport Player joining Freetime.
