Hey
I currently have VM Broadband plus basic land line, it's about to go up to £33.
We can't get fibre despite living in a city and fibre being offered from our cabinet.
Plusnet estimate 10-19mb. Am I likely to get anywhere near this?
I've not had non-fibre Broadband for like 15+ years. I watch a lot of video content in HD, will Plusnet be stable enough?
Thanks

If you are living close enough to the exchange yes, the 10-19Mb is a wide range but all the ISP's do that to cover themselves.
Did they tell you why, have you tried different providers to see can they supply Fibre ?? Maybe the cabinet is full ?
Take a look at the results from this checker:
www.dslchecker.bt.com/
If you don't have an Openreach (BT based) line, and it sounds like you don't, then you'll need to use the address checker.
You'll only ever get an estimate, but if the estimate is 10-19Mbps, then you'll probably get something in that range.
Even if it managed, say, 14Mbps I can't imagine it would be as stable.
So it looks like I connect directly to the exchang which isn't very far away.
The DSL checker webpage shows I get ADSl 2+
You're on what's called an Exchange Only line. As there is no OpenReach cabinet between you and the exchange FTTC cannot be supplied (as the fibre is supplied to a separate cabinet and then "coupled" with a ordinary cabinet to supply the service).
I believe the max speed available is "up to 24" so you would appear to be mid range.
What exchange are you on as some work is ongoing to "deal" with EO lines.

Check you PM in a min.
OK, I've seen your message. Have a look at the following website.
https://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htm?xid=340598&cabinets=12840
Type in your exchange, do a "locality" lookup up, then click on the exchange link and finally "All xx Fibre Cabinets"
You can also do it by post code which might give a more direct result.
From what I can see there is one bundle of EO lines (Called Exchange 5) which cannot receive fibre, However there is also a listing showing the following
"Cabinet E_1 FTTC doing Design, live due by January 2017 "
No post codes are shown against this link but it might well be work to add a cabinet for EO lines. This is known to be happening elsewhere - a new cabinet is added near the exchange and all properties with EO lines nearby are re-routed to the cabinet.
You appear to be in the Oxfordshire superfast broadband area. See
http://www.betterbroadbandoxfordshire.org.uk/
Have a browse through their website to see if you can find anything out. You can also contact them to see if they know anything about your area.

Hmm ok thats interesting!
BT openreach shows up as exploring soloutions.
I am 202m from the cabinet
Your best bet for information is the Oxfordshire project website. If nothing comes up on it with a post code search contact them and ask. They need your address & phone number. You should also say you're on a EX line at the xxx exchange.
They will know if the are plans, no plans or nothing has been decided.
The "202m" is probably the direct line distance to the exchange. Your phone line may well travel further.

Doing a Google Maps walk, looks about .5 a mile, and thats going a long way round.
