TBH I thought they would check that as a matter of course. I know about the B12 as my wife has the injections but I will have a look on the website. Thanks.

No they dont usually check it and if the results are odd, its very often put down to something else, eg they told me for months I just anemic and needed iron.

    3 days.

Energy levels were first thing I noticed.

Today is a prime example. Got up at 6.30. Left for work. Started at 8. Worked til 3.30. Walked for 4 miles with a friend in the woods about 4.30. Had tea. Replied to a few emails then went out on bike for 40 minutes.

After about a week I noticed some weight loss...neck and face.

4 weeks in and feel totally awesome. :D

Awesome I'm pleased for you :D

I'm going to the doctors this evening for blood test and all that :)

EDIT: Oh and I'm almost 27 btw so I'm not much younger then some of you. I'll let you know what they say.

Yes I actually asked for tests as we could find no obvious cause. I had an ecg that was fine, did blood test that was fine except my cholestoral was a bit high. I'm not over weight. I had a scan of my heart & an xray of my chest nothing showed up.

I even went & saw a specialist privately which cost me £200 he did an ecg & told me he didn't know what the cause was either! It was in his words a sympton of our modern lifestyle!

That didn't help me at all & I was £200 poorer.

The exercise has worked wonder & I am not talking doing anything major. Just a gentle jog & walk for about 30 minutes 3-4 times aweek to start.

I also got a beginners guide to yoga DvD off amazon for under tenner. It came well recommedned in the buyers reviews so I got it started using it. It is designed to detox & destress.

have to say it works well I feel a lot more relaxed from the destressing & as for the detoxing!
I wish there had been a warning that it entailed farting my brains out for a few days as all the toxins come out!  :D

Generally speaking I like to SEE the results of tests including blood tests. Otherwise I tend to have that feeling that I am not being given the full service. The blood tests I listed earlier are pretty conclusive and should rule anything out. Often unless you specify the blood tests you want they are not too extensive.

    @Jarwin

Testosterone levels are not so clear cut. As I said earlier the norm level is 9.9 - 27.8, well for example if you were say 17.5 and the you suffered a sharp decline within a small amount of time to 13.5 you could interpretate that as being a low level.

As I said above, I like to see real figures rather than someone just telling me I am ok, so make sure your doctor does that. Yes the private blood tests do check for more but only because you can order whatever test you want and SEE the actual figures. If you are lucky and get a good doctor then he may give you the results (I've not yet found one that would). See earlier in my thread and note the tests I recommended to someone else.

Oh and something else I noticed thats different for me.

Food. When I eat I get a rush rather than a sleepy feeling. Now admittedly I've been watching how much I eat and what I eat, but even so in the past I'd eat and feel lethargic.

Anyway good luck guys hope its resolved for you soon.

Well as I suspected my useless doctor didnt do jack shit. He checked my height, weight, blood pressure and sent me on my way.

My fiancee mentioned Testim and he replied "Test him? No we're not going to test him."

    Utter rubbish then.

Well as the NHS seems to have failed you, you can have one more try with them and ring the surgery and say you are not happy with the treatment/diagnosis he gave you and demand to see another doctor, or you can go private.

As I said it can be a long haul.

Not strictly true. Just say to your GP,"I'd like a copy of my test results, please" and he invariably he will give them to you.

You may have to pay a nominal amount, say 10 pence per printout page.

Thats not my experience or the experience of many...assuming of course that he is willing to do the tests you ask him to do.

Prime example of the type of idiots others encounter: Your blood pressures a bit high....I wont investigate why I'll just give you a tablet to supress it

I think he did have a look and he didn't say anything so I'm guessing it was OK.

Well in my experience, your TSh level can be in range, and a Dr will say its ok, even when its not! It would be good to know the actual result of the TSH as the symptoms are very similar to Thyroid disease!

I doubt whether GPs actually refuse to give this info, since they know they are in normal circumstances contractually obliged to do so.
Access to medical reports and health records

You have the right to see most health records held about you, subject to certain safeguards........

......You have a right, subject to certain safeguards, to see any medical report written ...., by a medical practitioner who has responsibility for your ongoing care, for example, your GP or consultant and any medical practitioner who has treated you in the past.

If unusually he does appear reluctant simply say "I understand I have the legal right to see my records". He will not contradict you.

I got tested for it a while back because I have M.E. the doctor did say that one of the symptoms is lack of body hair.
Turned out it wasn't that, which isn't surprising since I'm a walking shagpile.

When the wife and I met, stuff hapenned twice a day but now we have a small baby I'm happy with twice a month.

That and other symptoms lead me to think I might benefit from a supplement or two but I worry that I'll no longer be happy with twice a month!

I'm probably better off staying here on the sofa feeling sh@gged instead of being sh@gged.

Thats interesting and certainly one I will bear in mind for the furture, but like I said, thats assuming he is willing to do the tests in the first place.

:eek: Ok so sex with your wife isnt top of your list, but what about the energy to do other things so that you live a long healthy life for your son/daughter.

Sex was not the main reason I got checked out to be honest. I was fed up of feeling low and my day ending the moment I got in from work, when I'd just slump on the sofa and not feel like doing anything.

    Get checked!

Simple answer to that is to see another doctor. I was lucky as mine was quite recptive to my concerns & did the usual height, weigh, BP then suggested before I did a blood test checking things like thyroid, even the possibility of diabetes & other things, iron levels etc.
I do feel we can be rather passive & let the medical experts walk over us somewhat. We do need to start insisting upon checks & being prepared to go elsewhere if need be. As I said I went to see a specialist it did not turn up anything but at least I took control & I feel that is the key.

I am doing so. There's a new doctors surgery opening here so I'm gonna go there instead.
