As previously stated on DS and the Internet in 2013 when BT fully switch to IPTV and phase out the existing OTT sky sports.

No they won't. Existing bt vision boxes will work and are updated ready for iptv. Youview will at in 2013 add full iptv integration via the epg (allowing recording) at this point the switch to youview only will commence.

Good question. As long as bt keeps it. Eventually the vision boxes will be [through age?] switched to youview

How does this fit in with BT's forthcoming launch of IPTV channels rumoured to be announced next Wednesday (12th December) with roll-out later on in the month? Will these be in a player like TalkTalk TV or in the EPG? I guess in a player.

Forgive my stupidity here but where does the DMOL consultation on IP services come into play? The IP services were, or rather are, going to be allocated space to give them their own channel numbers etc so how are Vision going to go about it within the next couple of weeks without the aid of a player?

So when Jamcambs refers to a roll-out of the IPTV channels this month, this means just on BT Vision boxes and not the YouView boxes? I can see the technological logic behind it but marketing wise it's a strange proposition.

We knew that already if the recent press reports are accurate. They stated (with regard to the 3 recent announcements in E!, Syfy & Universal) that the channels would initially be made available to BT Vision users only and would then be made available to YouView customers later in 2013.

So will these channels be recordable on BT Vision when made available by this years end or will they be through a player?

My sister downloaded the new YouView app for her Iphone 3gs the day and it seems to work fine with my YouView box. Only thing she found was it tane a few seconds for it to load up the full EPG.
All thats needed now is for them to bring out the app for android so I can use the app also.

DMOL have already freed-up 100 EPG allocation numbers for the the exclusive use of IPTV channels only, in the last channel re-shuffle.

Whether they will be used from launch (ie recordable), or only from mid(ish) 2013 has not yet been announced.

And, promo-only, if you don't mind me asking, are you an actual BT Vision or YouView user? I only ask because some of your questions come across like you aren't. And thanks for your reply.

The press reports I've read which were based on BT's press release and were unfortunately not as clear as this. They don't mention YouView at all, what they say is "BT Vision has signed a contract with Universal Networks International, the international channels division of NBCUniversal. This will see leading channel brands, Universal Channel, Syfy and E! Entertainment added to its linear line-up, which will launch in the coming weeks.
The three channels will be streamed live and, early in 2013, BT Vision customers will also be able to watch specific programmes on-demand.

Hi, it was just a point of curiosity, thats all. And I didn't think multiple accounts were possible. But I guess that just goes to show what I know (or rather don't know) about internet forums. lol. And I did wonder why the forum wouldn't let me register as 'VisionMan', so thanks for clearing that up.

Going back to the channels question, I would have thought that they would be here by now, or at least an announcement as to when they launch.
