i dont really understand the point. Pop Idol was just like XF apart from no groups or categories. Unless ITV thinks stripping everything back and going back to basics will help. But it wont be much difficult from XF

aw you know what, that would be brilliant! x factor kinda did that [very badly] in 2019 with x factor the band. but it was so rushed and did over like 4 episodes and it was obviously just a last ditched attempt to save x factor. But if they did it properly it would be good, and Girls Aloud were the biggest girlband in the 2000s [we'll forget about one true voice haha. and with little mix splitting up, theres no other girlband left. and even boybands. JLS and The Wanted have reunited, and Union J for a one off gig. but thats about it

LI was brought back in the 2010s - the original LI (which had celebs rather than members of the public) was around before 2010. I think it only ran for a couple of series before being cancelled, hence it being described as a 'flop' in the 2006 article.
