Dogs all day long. At least they show a modicum of affection. Cats are mercenary scroungers with a nasty, vicious streak.

I think they just don't like your name......

I prefer dogs from a usefulness point of view but with cats you do get the added bonus that if you die they'll eat you, which is better because dead people stink up the place.:D

    What a strange question.

The OP presumably realises that dogs and cats are different species and therefore offer different characteristics? Both make good pets when treated with kindness and compassion.

And it's not 'who' it's which.

One great thing about cats is that whatever faults they might have, they don't kill children.

Well that's funny. I've never had a cat run up to me in the street and start scratching :o

Conversely, I've had numerous off the lead dogs run and jump up at me, and the odd one has bitten.

They have also been known to tear kids apart, causing a family tragedy. Makes them dangerous in my book.

Growing up, there were both cats and dogs as pets, at one point both at the same time.

I've had my own cat, The Beast, for just over ten years, so I am biased on the moggy front.

But both a great animals to have around.

Definitely cats for me! They smell nice, are comforting, sweet and hilarious creatures at times.

I do like some dogs but some I find rather intimidating or extremely daft/stupid : /

I have never owned a dog in my life but have had my Persian male cat for the last 7 years and he is the light of my life couldn't praise him enough so loyal and affectionate.

Anyone who hates cats doesn't relate to me as they really are (or some anyway) adorable pets.

They can still be pretty intrusive! There's one that lives near me. When it's summer, it comes uninvited into my garden and jumps on my knee when I'm sitting there trying to work. It then lies there flexing and unflexing its claws in quite a threatening way so I daren't tip it off. I just have to sit there until it decides to leave again, which can be a good half hour.

I can't get my head around why some people on here come out with such silly comments >:(

I'm guessing you've never bonded with a cat or being around one then. They're amazing animals and every bit as great as dogs. They provide a lot of love and companionship and loyalty to their owners if treated well.
