Is using BT Openzone to buy stuff safe?

I used my Ipod Touch to buy from the app store as well as updating emails/twitter. Is it safe, I assume that using the ipod touch would be safer than using a laptop/netbook.

Unless you view sites with SSL encryption (shown as a padlock icon on an iPod) the data to and from your browser could be viewed by somebody else on a public network.

Your Twitter updates etc will not be encrypted. I would hope the App store would be.

Any device being used to interact with the Internet in some way is as safe as the user using it, regardless of what that device may be.

Why would you think it's safer?

As long as you see "https" when you are entering card details ect, you should be fine.

When buying from the app store there is no "https" to check, how is app store data sent?

    Haven't a clue. I would imagine it's secure though.

I would imagine it's as secure as it needs to be too.

i don't know that intercepting someone's app store data is going to do a third party that much use anyway. but if you are entering a credit card then it will be secure.

You can actually view twitter on https

Just make sure you access via https so the address would be https://twitter.com same most email services and facebook.

the problem is with the API, which may bot be encrypted.
