Trends and "fads" that took your childhood by storm

I often hear people complain about a load of social media-inspired crazes for weird and random new objects or acts of stupidity. But apart from the more connected world we all now live in, have times really hanged that much since you were in school?

When I was in primary school (all of 10-12 years ago now), the key trends I remember were: Pokemon stickers; gel pens (including a particular fixation on scented and sparkly varieties); and those wristbands that began with Lance Arsmtrong's yellow cancer awareness bracelets and saw anti-racism and "Make Poverty History" off-shoots. What else did people used to trade with friends, or feel left out and useless after begging their parents in vain to buy, even though all the shops in a 10-mile radius of their home were sold out?

Clackers for me too in the early 70s.
I was good with them but used to get a badly bruised wrist if my technique went awry. . matron.

To count as a trend or fad, the things listed ought to be temporary, and not have lasted more than x number of months. I'll add Beyblades and Bionicles to the list.

Late 60s. Early 70s I'd say skateboards, hula hoops, roller skates/inline skates, superballs

Marbles seem to have been going around for decades.

Panini sticker albums. It was Roger rabbit/ gulf war stickers when I was at school.
    Thunder cats figures
    Ninja turtles figures.

Also gameboys, although only 3 or 4 people could afford them. So there were queues to play them.
