The only time my wireless router gets switched off, is when there is a power failure. Otherwise the router is rock solid, never requires rebooting and basically runs 24/7, as does the cable modem (when it doesn't require a reboot) & 2 of my computers.

Why is this same question asked over and over again?

Router is left on 24/7, mainly because I can't get to the power outlet, plus I want the wireless there when I start up my laptop.

My PC is powered down when not in use.

just unplug it. i dont really care if it breaks down - i got it free. If it does break down, it wont be too hard to get a new one off Isp's. Customer retention is their goal, especially in tiscali's case :D

Likewise, my modems are left on during the day (for xbox360 live use!) but my pc is switched off when not in use

yeh but if it breaks down in the meantime what would you use, I understand what you are saying, it seems alot of hassle just so you can turn it off

No. Desktop computer, all its peripherals, music keyboard, hifi, modem, and wireless router are all powered from the same power socket, so one switch powers it all down when I go to bed at night, and one switch to bring it back on when I get home from work.

And I've been doing that for years, and I've never had any fail in doing so... touch wood. :D

Actually I can't be bothered to tell you because apparently you don't like my opinion.

    Well said.

Under no circumstances shout anyone ever leave any wireless device on in their home.
    This link explaines all

    http://www.wellingtongrey.net/miscellanea/archive/2007-05-27--the-truth-about-wireless-devices.html

(N.B. Only may be relevant if you read the Daily Mail)

The signal strength is so low that I feel they can be safely ignored. This whole thing about dangers from transmitters is getting way out of all proportion. Has anyone considered the effects of TV transmitters, Radio Broadcasts, Airport Radars, Weather Radars etc? (not to mention Satellite Transmissions)
BTW peteroddan have you considered a spell checker or dictionary?:)

Yeah i use a Belkin router.
Its on 24/7 and used by 3 computers quite a lot, and now sometimes my Xbox 360.
As a rule doesn't perform too badly, would recommend Belkin!
Needs a re-boot every now and then, but so does the Telewest modem.
