Christening attire - help!

I'm going to a christening tomorrow and I haven't had time to have a good shop and find something appropriate to wear. I don't own much in the way of formal clothing so I'm a bit stuck. Would it be acceptable to wear dark blue skinny jeans? I have a kimono and some high heeled sandals to kind of dress them up a little. My only other option is a slightly above the knee length dress, but last time I wore it I was very self conscious and spent the whole time pulling the hem down.

Would the jeans be a massive faux pas?!

I, personally, wouldn't wear jeans. Would your dress look ok with a pair of tights then you wouldn't feel as 'on show'

It might do, but the only shoes I could wear with the dress are open-toed so I don't think tights would work!

Oh poo. Looks like I'm a bit stuck! Only other options are PJ's, wedding dress or my painting trousers.
