Mitchell's, obviously. I have loved nearly all the mitchells. Don't get me started on how much i miss Glenda. The only one i never liked was Danny Mitchell.
How is this a question when the answer is so self evident. There is only one family in EE that is responsible for its biggest ratings; has its most iconic characters and has as a member the character after whom the seminal storyline of the show was named.
I would say without a doubt its The Mitchells led by Phil and Grant.
The Beales have the history but the Mitchells have been the main face of EastEnders now for over two decades. That's been a lot of drama in 23 years. When ever a soap or TV magazine runs a poll for EEs best male character its nearly always Grant that tops the poll.
Steve McFadden in particular has carried the show more than once which is no easy task. Who Shot Phil had the country at a stand still. It caused the 3rd largest power surge on record and a huge European Football match actually got delayed just to make way for the reveal! I mean UEFA delayed a football game just for Phil Mitchell!! lol
The Beales hands down the soul of the show,did not take the limelight away from other characters e.g The Brannings nor are full of pyscho's like the Mitchells, and a huge assortment of great characters in their clan:Lou, Kenny, Pete, Pauline,David, Mark, Ian, Michelle and Bianca to name a few.
1- beales - longest running family
2- Mitchell's - cos there tough and it's about family
3- salters - came into the show mouthy with dark secrets which probably made them unique
4-butchers -
