Challenging A Landlord On Rent Arrears

I want to dispute the amount of money a private landlord says I owe him in rent. They have threatened me with eviction,but I can see from the rent records they have given me,that I am not behind as much as they claim. I have long said this but they will not listen. What do I do?

Have you any corroborating evidence like bank statements or receipts? Do you pay the landlord directly or through a letting agent - if you do this, they'll have a record of what you've paid and when.
