    In Depth Reporting?

oh yes - 7 whole lines ! really in depth

I was suprised though that the action was taken as I thought the area I work in has gone to N3, which makes the boxes obsolete anyway

Get out of bed the wrong side today ?

In a nutshell, police have arrested 2 men for attempting to sell 60 modified set top boxes, following an investigation from VM.

    end quote.

Hardly much detail to give, which is why my OP said what it did

yes, chpped boxes have been on the market (if you know where to look and who to see) - what I was implying is that it is good to know that Virgin are still persuing people for using them even though the use of N3 will kill the boxes anyway

Yes he did, Womblers initial post
Good to know that Virgin are still on the case !

    From the newspaper article
Police in Waterlooville swooped on two homes following an investigation with Virgin television into claims that the boxes were being tampered with to receive programmes for free.

The raids on Lantana Close and Britten Way on Monday led to the arrests of a 48-year-old man and a 49-year-old man on suspicion of defrauding Virgin Media.

Why does that have nothing to do with Virgin Media?

No , he didnt , go back and read his FIRST POST again....no mention of how virgin was involved at all , until someone else came along and posted the link ....even then it turns out it had sod all to do with VM !

I don't understand where you're coming from on this. Specifically which part of his first post doesn't mention Virgin?

Additionally, the thread title is "Chipped boxes - Virgin Strike back"

That's the first mention of Virgin.

The first post in this thread says

The second mention of Virgin, you even quoted it in your reply.

    The newspaper article
"Police in Waterlooville swooped on two homes following an investigation with Virgin television"

    The third mention of Virgin.

So the question still stands, How does this have nothing to do with Virgin Media?

I'm normally quite a patient person, but you seem to have a bee in your bonnet about this !

The article mentioned Virgin - my fault for not posting a link to the article, but someone kindly done that for me.

So what is the problem - maybe this link will help you understand more ..... http://www.heart.co.uk/hampshire/local/news/police-investigate-digibox-modifications/

From the tone of your comments, it seems you are making this personal. Why ?

I simply mentioned the story I had read. At the time of my posting, there was no online article to link to.

So, no need for the "utter numpty" comments was there

I heard this week that chipped Sky boxes are now available online. This can't be true, can it? After all the fuss made over VM security.

Whatever you heard is not true! NDS Videoguard is still 100% secure.
