What advice would give me, I have an idea for a movie/tv show.
Well I joined Shooting People many years ago and kept pitching scripts on there until someone eventually picked up my first one. Basically the same thing happened with the new one, so give it a try
You do have to pay an annual membership fee if you want to pitch scripts regularly though, but i've found if you let the initial year expire and wait 6 months, it comes down to about £20 quid.
You need to be patient though. I've been pitching scripts on there for years and you just have to wait for the right person at the right time.
You can of course go in the other direction and make it yourself. You can post on another Shooting People Bulletin to ask for people interested in helping out on your project.
But then I think with films, it's very much a case of being in the right place at the right time or knowing the right people. As well as being lucky
Although the trailer is a bit pants. While it's very moody it does little to tell me what the film is about.
Thankyou. The trailer could indeed be better. It's quite a simple plot anyway, but the trailer does come across more as a teaser than an actual trailer.
But then, as I said on Page 1, i'd probably need voiceover man to explain what's going on
Do you not have a walk-on cameo Jason, Hitchcock style?
That would be a nice gimmick. I could be a random passer by in anything I get made - Tarantino style
I've actually got another short I've been trying to get made for over 5 years and i'm starting to wonder if i should at least try and make it myself. But then I think visualising all the shots from a director's point of view as opposed to a writers is probably somewhat similar to driving a car as opposed to being a non-driving passenger.
Secondly - Just a tiny bit of constructive criticism. I thought the trailer was a bit naff. No idea what the film was about? A trailer is supposed to sell the story, and make you want to see it. It was just a minute and a half of music, and various shots of the actors - no speech, and no previews of scenes to build hype/excitement...
Thirdly - I hope it goes well, as I have mass respect for budding film makers. It's certainly not easy...

Firstly, thankyou
Secondly, you're absolutely correct, but I had no input on the trailer at all.

That music is very familiar ...what movie is it lifted off?
Thankyou everyone
Reg, not sure about the music but someone earlier in the thread seemed to mention the title.

Just found out i'll be getting a copy soon after the premiere on the 3rd as well, so that's good ..
Lord of the Rings! It's Escala's Requiem of a Tower.
Or okay, it's from Requiem for a Dream.

You're welcome

Or something like that ..

Well done, Jason.
There is also the BBC Writersroom.

I intend to write a script and send it to them this year as my first foray into the world of script writing.
