Amazing also the number of psychics who know exactly why people are concerned, without any knowledge of the people themselves.
Whatever people's personal objections to halal/kosher, one hears a lot from the far right about their concern for "animal rights", which seems to be at variance with their normal macho stature. I think we've every right to be suspicious of these groups' damascene conversion to animal rights.
Hmm.. I live in an area of Birmingham which I'd imagine is probably now about 80% Asian. Walk down the high street and many of the Asian butchers front signs proudly advertise 'Non-stunned halal meat'.
That would be part of the 10% in the numbers that is not stunned then, wouldn't it?
In case it hasn't been said already, animals throats are cut regardless, even if they have been stunned first. It should bring the death of an animal pretty much instanly if done properly.
Likewise there are equally one dimensional posters around that follow the equation "anything" + "Islam" = "correct"
Really ? I think you MIGHT find these poster tend to be, well, Muslims ? And there are plenty of posters here who use Christian morality to explain their anti-LGBT bigotry. But that, apparently, is personal choice.
If you're looking to me for "anything" + "Islam" = "correct", then I'm afraid you're barking up the wrong tree - I'm a militant atheist, and regard all religion with an equal viewpoint - i.e. that's it's bunkum. What I can't be doing with, though, is people equating all branches of Islam as the same, and attributing extremism as the mainstream.
It dies within about 10 seconds as opposed to a second or two with a gun to the brain. And frankly, they are as barbaric as each other, and as I said, I am sure the animal is glad of the extra 8 seconds or so of life.....NOT
This is not true. Even the often quoted by supporters of religious slaughter study from 30 odd years ago disagrees with you. Up to date research does too.
