I'm very luck that I get to work with Fred. Really kind and warming both on and off screen and always has time for everyone. His contract is up for renewal at the end of this year but I think he will be staying on our screens for a bit longer yet - he's very keen too!

Hope Meridian keep him but if not then maybe That's Solent but I guess he have too take a pay cut but he stay in work.
The south has been blessed with Fred Dinenage and Sally Taylor as the front people for regional news for all these years. Both have genuine warmth and I have a lot of admiration for them both.
It was shocking to hear Sally Taylor mention the words 'Meridian' and 'ITV'. It was like a character on Eastenders mentioning Coronation Street or vice versa! :-)
I remember during the World Snooker one year David Vine being unable to resist "and I'd like to thank the viewer who wrote to me and addressed the letter to "Fred Dineage, ITV Snooker, Sheffield!"
Very professional, genuine warmth, very well done in reaching his half-century in broadcasting!
I remember him from programmes like How 2, Tell The Truth (game show done by TVS), plus seeing him on News (Calendar, TVS, Meridian, BBC South to name some) and various old programmes, like Gambit and the original How, to some other programmes as well (murder documentaries etc).
I also saw footage of Speedway from 1974, an Outside Broadcast done by Yorkshire Television, and Fred was in the chair from the racecourse, professional as always.

Thanks for that, I missed it yesterday. Fond memories of Fred on How and Gambit (With Peter Fenn on the organ!!).

He will be staying at Meridian. Doubt there will be a pay cut. He isn't actually ITV staff so will negotiate his own rates.
Thanks for the link, I went looking and couldn't find anything on my own (usually the way!). I'll watch it later.
In PMQs the other week, there is a clear "How" uttered in the house when Caroline Dinenage asks a question!

Nice to see even our elected reps can take the p too!

Once again, Fred Dinenage - Legend!
