I decided that as I still had the Day of the Doctor 3D sid by side version on my Sky HD box and I have a Sony Trinitron that I know how to change the dimensions of the picture with the hidden menu, I thought I would see if I could squash the picture vertically s that its near enough its proper dimensions:

I wonder if I have it in the right dimensions?
Two of the images are off a different TV but the rest are from the Trinitron,
I have had to downscale it to SD then letterbox within the Sky box then its letterboxed in the trinitron and then on top of that further squashed vertically using the hidden settings menu!
Of course being on an SD TV some of the image is lost of the left of the left image and the right of the right image.
After the first 12 I shifted the picture to the right so you can see the left edge of the left image.

Not as my main TV, you may have noticed in the background that there are glimpses of another TV on some of the pictures, thats my main HDTV!
I just put the CRT on a table in front so I could muck around with it!

To see if it is actually possible with the right mucking around of settings to get the 3D side by side to be stretched out so that you get 2 proper shape images side by side instead of 2 8:9 images!

you can buy a 3D converter box which takes a 2d picture electronicaly processes it to display stereo pairs which a 3D TV autodetects a 3D signal these are now under £40 It is a huge improvement over the simmulated 2D to 3D conversion built into most 3D TVs only problem is you need to connect it to HDMI input to use on your vintage tv you would need to get a HDMI to Scart converter .

What's wrong with experimenting on a TV set? Some of us find playing about with old TVs very interesting.

Too right playing around with old TVs and pushing the limits or their technology to the limit!
