It was good but by the end its glory days were over
The last couple of regular series were really stretching things - and it should've finished for good when JD left at the end, but when the final series came along with all the med students, the first episode seemed pretty good and I had high hopes for it... then I watched the second episode and it was dire. I never went back for the rest.
Glad i'm not the only one. I really miss looking forward to new episodes of Scrubs. Saddens me there will be no more.
Even the vastly hated Season 9 was fantastic in my eyes and i think it sparked the series right back up. I would have loved a season 10 in the format of Season 9.

I just wish they'd been given the chance by the network to actually call it a proper spinoff instead of being forced to call it Series 9...
There's a story that Bill Lawrence actually had to change his writing credit to "Med School Bill Lawrence" so the title card would say "Scrubs: Med School" because the Network wouldn't even let them alter the name.
You want to know a new fact I learnt about Scrubs the other day?
Ted turns up in an episode of Cougar Town.
And I don't mean the actor, the actual Character turns up when they go on holiday, he's split up with Gooch apparently (she dumped him for Hooch! GOOCH is crazy! )
Dunno how canon that is...if sitcoms do Canon...
But still, was sad when I read that! Poor Ted!
indeed, i like series 9 but it carried the scrubs name and was never gonna be the same without JD and even then it was at the end of the road.
i like some of the new characters and thought it had potential but it wasnt to be.

Yeah Bill put up a fight to change the name but network gets what network wants unfortunately. Personally i don't care that it carried the Scrubs name because i actually think season 9 was better than one or two of the weaker seasons of actual Scrubs (6&7 spring to mind.)
I knew Ted was appearing on Cougar town and so does Ken Jenkins (who plays Kelso) as a different character but i don't get to see it because no freeview channel has picked up the rights.
Abed out of Community also appeared as an extra on Cougar Town, after claiming to have done so in an episode. Then two members of the Cougar Town cast popped up in a Community episode.

Is community another Bill Lawrence show?
Interesting the tangled web he weaves, also remember the amount of Spin City cameos we got during Scrubs' run....
E4 have started showing it from the beginning again at around lunch time. And now that Friends has finished on E4 I think double Scrubs will be taking the 5pm slot....closely followed at 6pm by the equally brilliant The Big Bang Theory.
I personally love the early episodes of Scrubs before it got too slapstick. i still like the more comedy based series like Season 5. But I really enjoyed Season 8 as it seemed to revert back more to the earlier ones...even in terms of the look...darker colours etc.
It seems like they were consciously wanting to recreate the vibe of the first couple of seasons.
The most under rated show of all time possibly. Absolute genius. Up there with the best of the best.
I loved this show.
Even though it is generally thought that it was not as good as the earlier seasons, I think it was just as funny at the end as it was at the beginning (I even loved the 9th season!!)
I stopped watching when Zach Braff left. The last season looked terrible, what was the point of having Zach leave and then bring him back in a few episodes?

Try watching it before judging it. He wasn't brought back for a few episodes, he was in HALF of them.
I have Season 9 on DVD and i enjoy watching it just as much as i do all the other seasons.
Season 1 and 2 were shaky but season 3 to 6 were its best days, 7 began to decline and 8 felt empty (with the stars being contracted in less episodes to be cheaper) and season 9 should of been different.
Season 9 should of been an actual spin off. With Dr. Cox and Turk keeping it alive. It had a new set, new cast, new stories except it was supposed to be the same show and thats where it failed. I actually like season 9 it had a new energy that was lacking in season 7 and 8. It was such a shame ABC didn't want to continue it.
Also Ted showed up in Cougar Town, so heres to more characters turning up. Except Ellie, Jules, Their neighbour and Jules Dad (The awesome ken jenkins!) all appear in the show as different characters. As much as i loved Teds appearence, that sort of ruins it for continuity but i wont complain if JD or Turk or Dr. Cox turn up (love Dr. Cox to be like "am i not married to you?" to Ellie)
Scrubs was my fave TV show and I have all the seasons on DVD but it should never have come back after JD left in season 8. That was the perfect ending
I agree. I never even bothered to watch season 9, simply because the show got a proper ending with JD's departure. It was a finale. You don't have more story after a finale!
It was on a downward slope from Season 3 onwards, but kept things bearable and sometimes good until season 7/8. Seasons 1-3 were comic gold, though, and all the characters were well written until, as is typical of a sitcom, all of them had their character traits amplified to manic proportions.

It's interesting watching the earlier seasons when the show was more drama based with a comedy element.. it's was still brilliant just different

tbh i feel alot of sitcoms tend to that.

I saw two episodes. Really enjoyed the first and then the second dragged beyond belief. I didn't go back for more.

Surely they could have survived without JD without even having to axe the show.
Eh? Scrubs was axed in May 2010.
Yes they could have survived without JD but the so-called fans boycotted the show and not so great ratings caused the show to be canned.
