High speed dubbing probs?

I have a Panasonic DMER95 and i'm trying to transfer from my HDD to a DVD-R, there was a separate sheet with the manual that said the default setting for high speed dubbing to DVD-R was off and needed to be turned to on.
I did this and the machine will still not let me dub to DVD-R at high speed from the HDD.
Should i have a different type of disc? i don't understand why it's not letting me do this
