I know a couple called Paul and Pauline. There's no male version of my name so I was always safe. My Brother in law though, would have been called my name had he been a girl.
My mother in law and I shared the same initials and the same surname, its only the first name that is different....we are both Mrs S V(same name) G(same name)

Evelyn Waugh's first wife was named Evelyn. They were known among friends as 'He-Evelyn' and 'She-Evelyn'.

Very worried since my name is Ryan and I'm not gay or bi.
    :D

I like that name, Ryan. Jason is another name I like too.

    Don't ask me why - I haven't a clue!:o

My name is unmistakenly female and as I am no gay or bi I will never date somebody with the same name. In uni, my friend Steve (male) had a girlfriend whose nickname was Stevie. She preferred to be known by her nickname rather than her given name. They broke up after a year so, nothing to do with the names as far as I know!

Nicola and Nicholas often get abbreviated to Nick or Nicky.

The office I work in has about 110 people - at least 7 of whom are Nick, Nick, Nic, Nikki, Nikki, Nicky and Nicky.

I know a male/female couple who are called Nick & Nicky.

My name is unisex but I am already married and Mr dolphin doesn't share my name!

I know a couple called Chris and Chris!

One's short for Christopher the other Christine.

Makes me laugh when I'm with my Mum and we see them out together "hello Chris, how are you?" Both reply "Not too bad, how are you?" Then all 3 of them burst out laughing. - First time it was funny, maybe even the second but every bloody time it's wearing a bit thin now.

If you're either gay or straight but have a name like Leslie, how would you feel about a partner who shared your name?

Personally, if I went out with a girl called Dave I'd find it awkward shouting "Oh Dave!" in the bedroom but then maybe it would be different if I had a name like Francis...

Well, with me having a name like Steve, i doubt many girls are called that. But Stevie is a girl's name so it's not out of the question.

Much to my son Sean's dismay, his name has been pronounced Sharn in USA!

He has never been out with anyone called Sian although one of my friends has a daughter of that name and they used to play together when they were kids!

Siobhan is an Irish name and pronounced as below. I've never worked out why.

Erm because it's Irish and 'bh' in Irish Gaelic is pronounced 'v'.

I have a name that is primarily a male name but is most often used for girlies these days. I don't think I'd find it weird to be with someone sharing the same name - I mean, I don't call myself by my name and my kids don't call me by my name.

And to answer the OP, nobody shouts "Oh Arthur!" in the bedroom, that's just for porn. The whole name thing doesn't work. I mean, think of Mel Gibson, every woman's dream until you remember the bedroom stunt sounds like, "Oooh Melvin". No. Just don't.

hmmm, Ive never heard of anyone, in America, pronouncing the name Sean as Sharn. But, I have heard it pronounced as Sean (that rhymes with Bean), or mostly as Shawn or Shaun.

Many years ago, on a college night out, I got together with a guy I'd seen around campus. It was only when we later exchanged numbers I realised his full name was my dad's full name. That was a bit weird.

OH and I share a Christian name. Where people feel it necessary to differentiate, they mostly refer to us either as x-y-z one or two, or else to my OH as x-y-z Senior.

I don't get these parents who give their son the same christian name as their dad. Must be confusing for the mother lol.
