My name is unmistakenly female and as I am no gay or bi I will never date somebody with the same name. In uni, my friend Steve (male) had a girlfriend whose nickname was Stevie. She preferred to be known by her nickname rather than her given name. They broke up after a year so, nothing to do with the names as far as I know!
Makes me laugh when I'm with my Mum and we see them out together "hello Chris, how are you?" Both reply "Not too bad, how are you?" Then all 3 of them burst out laughing. - First time it was funny, maybe even the second but every bloody time it's wearing a bit thin now.

He has never been out with anyone called Sian although one of my friends has a daughter of that name and they used to play together when they were kids!

I have a name that is primarily a male name but is most often used for girlies these days. I don't think I'd find it weird to be with someone sharing the same name - I mean, I don't call myself by my name and my kids don't call me by my name.
And to answer the OP, nobody shouts "Oh Arthur!" in the bedroom, that's just for porn. The whole name thing doesn't work. I mean, think of Mel Gibson, every woman's dream until you remember the bedroom stunt sounds like, "Oooh Melvin". No. Just don't.

hmmm, Ive never heard of anyone, in America, pronouncing the name Sean as Sharn. But, I have heard it pronounced as Sean (that rhymes with Bean), or mostly as Shawn or Shaun.
Many years ago, on a college night out, I got together with a guy I'd seen around campus. It was only when we later exchanged numbers I realised his full name was my dad's full name. That was a bit weird.
OH and I share a Christian name. Where people feel it necessary to differentiate, they mostly refer to us either as x-y-z one or two, or else to my OH as x-y-z Senior.
