That is the highest share Corrie have had in ages. Higher than the LIVE episode I believe. Its quite telling though that the improvement on the most recent episodes have seen a spike in viewers and share.
Those eps last night were the 1st I have watched fully in nearly 2 years. And they were a massive improvement on the aftermath we might have got under Blackburn.
It felt very different to aftermath's from Blackburn. The feel of the episodes were very different.

Imo a disappointing figure then
not sure if I liked it or not
jury still out on that
I didn't see it, but it's been torn apart on here.
One user didn't hold back in concluding it was "just another Channel 4 experiment to see how many of the 'pretty people' end up having sex."
Given Eden has been plugged to death for weeks and was seemingly their big hope of the summer season, I rather expected more substance to the programme than that.
Ratings wise it's a fair start, but might be doing well to keep hold of that number.

Although technically they were still Blackburn's episodes.

But Kate Oates will have most certainly had a hand in improving the episodes being so close to her own. You can't seriously think this quality was all Blackburn?

I think good weather limited Coronation Street's rating.

No I posted yesterday to say that Oates will have had an input but you can't give her all the credit .

Whenever Corrie has had a good episode in the past few months, users rush to say 'Oates must have taken over' and 'must have had a part in it' then during the (frequent) bad episodes it suddenly 'must all be Blackburn'. Blackburn is still the producer, it's his work.

Exactly, nobody really knows for sure. Pure speculation.
I see the point I have raised a few times on here starting months ago has started to annoy others (see thread on This Morning).
It really is now getting to viewers that Phil and Holly are being put across as terribly arrogant given those smarmy credits featuring them that started last year.
Eamonn and Ruth do the show almost as often - as in every Friday, all school half term weeks and for 6 - 7 weeks in a row all through Summer - yet get zero reference on these titles that still have Phil and Holly prancing around.
When they had a guest presenter for one day he got a credit.
I am sure it is not at the insistence of Phil and Holly but it is starting to damage their image as if it were just as I predicted here months back now that others have noticed and are starting to moan about what comes across as blatant favouritism.
As you know I have a bit of a bee in my bonnet over this subject (I can see you smiling!) having been on This Morning a few times and also having worked with Eamonn quite a lot in the 1990s before he joined the show.
I think he and Ruth are being terribly treated by ITV for no apparent reason and, even if there is more to it, the point is that the mood is now growing and so this is what people perceive happening from these ego massaging credits.
If they are wise they will get off their high horse and do something about it now before it turns into a media campaign in The Sun and damages ITV and their star presenting duo.
The BBC manage it well when the morning show on BBC 2 has different presenters. It is not that hard to put right.
I'd agree ,the cast is a bit samey ,all a bit middle class
the voice over bloke sounded completely bored with proceedings
I doubt I'll be watching ep2
viewer retention could be a problem for channel 4

Thanks for posting. A very good share for the soaps, Emmerdale getting 35% is superb.

True. From what I can gather, the storylines currently on screen would all have been planned by Blackburn, however Oates was in charge when the final scripts were done and when filming would have taken place. So tweaks such as a noticeable difference in camera angles (which were quite jarring in the way the they gave the show a different feel to the last few years really) could have been as a result of Kate Oates taking charge. Of course no one knows for sure.
Decent figures last night considering the weather. I expect with it being even hotter today, we might see some terribly low figures for certain programmes.

The wisdom, or lack thereof, in scheduling a spooky (hardly, but....) series like The Living and The Dead will never look more out of place than it does tonight.

This is certain to get a recommission now. Especially considering Brain Cox's series on BBC1 dropped to 2.8m despite it being a great series.
It would be nice if ITV had more drama in Summer. So hopefully this is th first of many in the years to come.

Like buses you wait 12 years for a new series of Robot Wars then 2 turn up at the same time.:D
I'm not sure about them going head-to-head, as the article suggests. That seems unlikely to me.
