Speedy throw ins though for all the Swansea players I presume?
Of course. The same thing happens at every ground in Europe. If you want to blame someone for the time wasting culture in football, blame football itself.
Don`t blame the kids who are just doing what they are told.
Speaking of feigning injury, will Chelsea fans now accept the kicking of any of their players who are deemed to be wasting time?
Because i remember most of them idolising that big, rolling, time wasting lump Drogba.
Just watched the incident on Sky News. The ballboy inexplicably falls on top of the ball as if he had a heart attack just as Hazard is approaching to retrieve it, but mysteriously manages to smother the ball under his body. I guess he was following through on his threat / promise from Twitter earlier.
As far as I could see, it appeared that the ballboy was wasting time and it appeared that Hazzard went for the ball.
However, Hazzard knows the rules so he deserves his red. It's a clear cut decision. As far as the ballboy is concerned personally I would ban him from attending 3 matches too. It may be that the FA deal with Hazzard further and extend his ban or fine him and to be honest I wouldn't argue with that. No player can go around aiming a foot at a members of staff or public regardless of whether they meant to hit the ball. It's a dangerous and reckless act even if not malicious.
IRRELEVANT whether the ball boy was "wasting time" or whatever ..... as a professional eden hazard should have known better!
a BLATANT KICK to the boy's ribs!
despicable actions
Indeed.
But we live in modern times, where footballers are Kings, where a kid holding on to the ball to benefit his team for a few seconds is deserving of a kicking.
On the BBC highlights, you can clearly hear the ball strike what sounds like the pitch-side advertising boards as Hazard kicks out, so he must have given it a good walloping. Looks like his foot then followed through to strike the lad in the ribs - it would be almost impossible to stop that from happening.
So he "played" the ball. Trouble is, that defence won't wash as the lad isn't a player and he was off the pitch. The red card will have to stand, probably with 1 to 3 extra matches added for bringing the game into disrepute or something similar.
That should be the end of it, it wasn't a 'Cantona' or anything like it.
The Chelsea player kicked the kid while he was lying on the ground.
Which was why he received the red card.
You seem to have an obsession on here that Hazard kicked that stupid idiot.
He just accidentally caught him as he was trying to kick the ball from under him. Then the idiot started play acting with, what looked like, a smile on his face. There was a senior steward looking straight at what was going on & never even bothered intervening.
You, obviously, seem to have taken the Daily Mail sort of over reaction response to this for some reason.

It doesn't matter if he accidentally kicked the lad or not. It was a reckless action and the red card should stand.

i'm sorry but what the hell did you watch exactly?
that's NOT a description of what i've seen
the ballboy gets the ball, hazard tries to get the ball first time
the ballboy falls on the ball, hazard tries to get the ball from under him
he dosn't get it, so tries to kick the ball, but fails and connects with the ballboy, the ball squirms from under the ballboy but NOT from hazard's kick!

Though I imagine the ballboy's behaviour would have to be taken into account. He deliberately smothered the ball with his body when his job is to return the ball into play as quickly as possible. Hazard deserved his red card but the ballboy's behaviour was very provocative.

I notice a lot of people commenting on the clip are attacking the ballboy and it's not surprising.....he's not exactly an innocent victim here and is being quite provocative in fact.
haven't you all seen yet that the ballboy is the Swansea bankroller's son- Charlie Morgan,( who will soon be too old to be a ballboy) but was asked to do a job in this match and that was to waste time.

Look at this gif that was posted on a Chelsea forum. It shows that Hazard kicks the ball and that is what dislodges it from the faker.

It's unclear on all the video footage but when the first replay is shown on the BBC highlights, as they are asking Laudrup about it, there is a clear bang heard as Hazard kicks out.
A second or two later, the ball appears up against the hoardings and Hazard steps over the lad to pick it up.
Unless the BBC have mischievously inserted the bang, or someone else randomly banged the hoarding just as Hazard was kicking out, or someone made a bang during the interview, he must have connected with the ball for it to make that noise, a rolling ball would not have.
So yes it's possible there is some other explanation for the bang I'm just explaining how it looks on that particular interview - I could be wrong. His foot connected with the boy anyway.

It's possible there could be some other explanation for the bang but it beats me what it could be - the lad's head not his feet pointed at the hoarding amd Hazard wasn't up against it then.

A bit dramatic there! Maybe you need to get your facts right before coming in here shouting?

The thugs have won it would seem.
what's your take on it

Its not really up to a steward to tell the referee what to do!
That is the only thing that actually matters.
The kid holding on to the ball is a complete irrelevance.

actually he was ballboy manager for the match - hardly a role for a 'child' as some like to think he is

how does a 17yr old child pay for and get insurance for this then ?

Also take notice of the delayed reaction from the ball boy

If you watch all the available angles it becomes clear that the Chelsea player kicked the boy as well as the ball.
