Because they are too frequently committed together unjustly.

And even in separate instances, sex/violence in the wrong context does not exactly create a righteous society. The same with profanity.

I am all for a reduction in violence in society.

Can't say the same for sex!

There are three issues which recur from general objectors to TV.

They are swearing, sex and violence. My guess is that 'mothers' groups would most want sex to be removed because it's filth.

Their next choice would be swearing.

So if given the choice for their fourteen year old boy and girl, they would rather take off the screen a kiss with touching a breast, then somebody saying a four letter word.

They would get rid of those things, but leave on screen for the children four people a day being killed and maimed

Unless of course the violence was a kitten being stamped on. That would come top

Actually, I'd say the Sexuliazation of our society is the prime reason why western civilization is going
down the old toilet! And one that any current/future government are likely to tackle.

It's high time we all got the root of the problem and start bringing in tougher regulation, laws and enforcement in the digital age on sexuality, violence and profanity. Which covers everything on all mediums from books, video games, films, tv shows to music. Ofcom should be given the power to enforce the internet with strict powers with corporations and ISPs.

An opt in program for pornographic content on the internet would be a good start. After all you have it for pornographic TV channels. And anyone that chooses to opts in to receive such filth should be be put on a "database" so police can check if they are being responsible!!

It's weird, because I think that anyone who cites such fasist nonsense should also be on a register where their vote is taken away.

Its just as well that Britain is, despite what many like to think,
a free democratic country where such thoughts get short shrift.

We'll see in November about that. A consultation on internet blocking by the government should be out be then.

TV seems very tame to me compared to the early nineties, when a young lad like myself with a curious nature could rely on channel four for some full frontal nudity. now they have to rely on the strangely less realistic world of hardcore internet pornography.
