Do women like beards just becuase they're currently fashionable?

How many of you women like beards? Is it more because they've become 'cool' in the least couple of years? I ask because frequenting dating sites I'm struck by the number of women professing a liking for them, mainly youngish ones obviously, and am putting it down to it just being because they are on models, 'hipsters', generally seen as fashionable at present. I'm sure if I 'd have grown one a decade ago it would have provoked mostly derision.

What do you think? Would it make you more attracted to a guy and would it just be because you'd look cool by association or something?

Some women just don't like the constant attention, hence them liking a beard.

I can't grow facial hair, and only shave once a fortnight, and even then it's just a few short and straggly hairs sprouting out under my chin. I didn't have my first shave until I was 19 :-(

But he is Scandinavian and has a bit of a Viking/ Travis Fimmel look going on.

Don't like bushy beards but close cropped facial hair is fine, although it depends on what it looks like on the bloke who's wearing it!

Aesthetically beards can be okay, Y'know the right beard on the right bloke can be pretty cool. Also massively waxed facial hair always gets a thumbs up for the effort and the not giving a shut attitude. Up close and personal though, I'm not really a big fan.

Hate them and it seems like half the young men in my office now have them. I've not seen one that I think makes them look better.

I generally dislike facial hair so Movember is a bad time for me

I don't like beards - I don't mind a bit of facial hair but I think full on beards look awful. My friend's husband has grown a bigger beard than Santa, he's a proper hipster type and has been looking like a member of ZZ Top for a while now.

The metrosexual waxed, fake tanned and oiled, 6 packed look does nothing for me, I prefer the rugged hairy caveman type. To me the only downside of this beardy trend is that they're carefully trimmed and preened to ridiculous states of neatness.

Depends on who has the beard.

Xabi Alonso (Bayern Munich footballer for those of you who don't know) is sex on legs with or without a beard.

Bit of a strange example is Game of Thrones' Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. In the 4 seasons of Game of Thrones he's been short hair and clean shaven (gorgeous), longer hair and clean shaven (not really that nice at all), and long hair, beard and generally quite unkempt but yet somehow better looking than with long hair and no beard.
