The good thing about hard subjects like photography for each correct answer you go above quite a few people. I only got 3/10 but I've already done better than 11 other people. True over 20 others have done better still, Im happy. Oh, by the way, congratulations PamelaL for beating me again today and welcome back.

Yes - when I was playing, I preferred the more difficult subjects, where position was determined by number of correct answers rather than how quickly you could get 9 or 10.
I usually did OK on the 'speed-rounds', but didn't enjoy doing them - one slip could drop you down 20+ positions.
Still put an easy subject in there every now and then though, because some people like the easy ones.
Incidentally - I'm starting to get the urge to play again, so I'll soon be looking for someone to take over the administration of it. It's quite easy to do - nothing complicated - but you will need to be able to change the subject, most nights, at midnight or later.
Any volunteers?
PM me, or leave a message on this thread - probably looking to hand it over at the end of the month if possible.
I should have said this before but thanks for setting up this quiz.
I'm pretty useless a lot of the time, a lot of it is guess work, but I look forward to playing.
Anyway, thanks again, you do a great job!
Credit for the quiz belongs to 'Huch'net', who is sadly no longer a DS member.
All I did was take over the administration of it, when he left.
Can't say any more than that really, because he's banned, and don't want this thread to get locked.
Suppose I could play, I took over in late October, and continued playing until the end of that month, but I found I was deliberately avoiding subjects that I liked (and would probably do well at)
Might start playing again in Feb - but still looking for someone to take over if possible - any offers?

Sorry to hear about the first part of your post.
What does your role actually entail. Obviously I know you set up the questions, but if I were to try and take on the role, what would I have to do.
I warn you though, I'm basically computer illiterate, but it would be a shame to see the quiz end.

Don't worry - the quiz wouldn't end - Ill carry on doing it as long as I can, if it comes to it (if nobody wanted to take over)
I also think that passing it on every few months, would keep it fresh, I can see now why Huch wanted to pass it on after doing it for 7 months.
There's not a lot to it - don't need to be particularly computer literate.
I don't pick the actual questions, I just set it to a topic. Each topic has a pool of questions, some general topics may have thousands of questions in the pool, while other more obscure subjects may have only 20 or so.
The site then generates a set of 10 questions for each player, from whatever is in that question pool.
I try to avoid topics with less than 100 questions in the pool, and I also try to avoid subjects that would bring up a lot of US-orientated questions (like sport)
You can pick one of the general topics - or search for more specialised subjects - for example, search the word 'Egypt' and you will get topics like:- Egyptian Myth, The Pharaohs, The Nile, Ancient Egypt, Egyptian politics.....etc
then you just pick one or more that you want to include, and when you 'Save settings' the new subject is set.
You will also need to give that day's quiz a name, like today's 'Disasters' - and you can also type some text to appear instead of 'Welcome to our trivia game' if you want.
Whoever takes over will need to log in as 'Huch'net' to be able to access the admin/setup section (I'll PM the password). Once inside the admin section, you get all the options to change subjects, page colours etc......
The hardest part - I think - is being available to change the subject every day (well, almost every day) at midnight or later. You really need to leave it until midnight so that everyone gets the chance to play.
And that's about all there is to it..................
Anyone else having problems with the quiz? I can answer the questions, then press submit and after about 30 seconds, it freezes then get Cannot find server or Page cannot be displayed error messages. Tried again, got the same set of questions, same thing, this has happened 4 times now since 4 pm. The Global Quiz is off line too.

I played the quiz at about 5 o'clock & it was OK for me.
Its still off for me Still the same set of questions is coming up, and then it won't submit. I've even rebooted my modem incase that was the problem, but all my other websites are okay. Very weird.
Good subject for you today eh - did you get the perfect 10? I was quite pleased with my 8 and some of them weren't guesses! and the two I got wrong, I nearly got right - just did that stupid change my mind thing... doh!

I got the name of the largest salt-water lake in the Southern Hemisphere wrong. So 9, which isn't too bad.

7/10 for me. Not too bad I spose. Well, well Pamy, you certainly know more about your Aussie stuff than the rest of us, except for Kimindex that is. Don't worry, remember as long as he didn't get the freshwater question he can't claim to know more about your country than you. If he did however, then
I was robbed today. I got 7 answers right, the page froze up so I did a refresh and it changed some of my answers. In the end only 4 right. Still not a bad month for me, the best I've had so far

Thank-you baby.
