talking about binary finary on the other thread... heres 1999, (the gouryella remix)...
this is the track that finally converted this old rocker into a dance (trance) fan. i played it loud, very loud, in my car whilst travelling down the m1, the build up, crescendo and drop sent shivers down my spine in a way no other track had ever done.... and i was converted to euphoric trance
Tbh i dont know what the difference is between 1998 and 1999. Its the same track just with minor tweeks?
1998 is the original name of the track. It was remixed and re-released in 1999 and also 2000 and given the name of the year. Its the same song, though.
My point was just that Gouryella didn't remix it in 1998, lol.

to me ferry corsten was brilliant back then... not only being behind the best mix of 1999, but as veracocha - carte blanche which is one of the all time classics.

Ferry Corsten is one of my all time favourite trance producers
often referred to as 'the true sound of the balearics' its great to see this style of dance music is still alive and kicking in whats regarded as its spritual home. a group of trance fans, the ibiza trance family, are the driving force behind this.
they have secured dates several venues, including one at privilege (the worlds biggest club?) for their trance dj's. and they are streaming gigs live. https://www.facebook.com/IbizaTranceFamily
launching tomorrow (and every wednesday) at the kiosk beach bar is 'phoria' a trance heavy set.
The dj's.. Argue with them, not me, but i get it, for me and others trance suits ibiza, it evokes the feel of the place, the mood, the atmosphere.
why djs?
i dont really thing of trance becoming big in ibiza until 96 / 97 onwards. The first time i remember hearing trance in Ibzia was Beachball by Nalin and Kane.
the true sound of the Balearics / ibiza music is usually an eclectic mix of music played by djs such as pippi and Alfredo.

I do like the late 90s trance scene tho,
Well its dj's i heard referring to trance as the true sound of ibiza.. Maybe theres some hype there, i dunno, but trance music just seems to fit the mood of sun, sea, party, the med. I do remember dj sammy in an interview saying his music was born out the atmosphere of the balearics.
Yep, trance emerged as a huge force in the mid 90's...
Well i dont think 'the true sound of the balearics' can actually be definitively defined, its rather a nebulous term but one that can be employed whether its meaningful or not. Its just a term.
imho its hard to beat a definitive version which is what i think this is.... but sometimes there are great remixes, and as i like lange, i like this remix, it does the track credit
we might not see eye to eye on jacko, but trance.....
early reports suggest my lads gig @ eden went well last night
Congrats on your lads gig, use to dj myself but never had the confidence to really get the bedroom due to the amount of djs that popped up overnight in 2000.

I think even you will like this one.
If you can get hold of trance nation 1 mixed by ferry corsten circa 99 it is a fantastic album especially disc 2.
