I've never seen this anywhere but this forum, and I've seen Kyran saying he never skated before DOI.
And as someone has pointed out it is unlikely he would have been allowed to skate whie playing rugby because of insurance, they're not allowed to participate in anything that could lead to injury.
Of the Runner-ups Chris and Claire were unlucky but both Suzanne & Kyran were worthy winners as well. I thought that John Barrowman was the best skater in S1 and also like Stefan. As for Bonnie she was good but became a better skater after the series than she was during as she often carry in lift by Matt.
Ray was the best. He's the best skater to have won (only Chris Fountain challenges him there imo) and his performance skill rivals Suzanne and Hayley.
Suzanne's probably next. I think she demonstrated more skating skill than Hayley and by the end of the series was absolutely sparkling on the ice.
I'd put Hayley and Kyran about equal. She's much better than him on performance but he's better on skating skill. She's still a fairly decent skater though and he did a lot with his performance skill during the series, especially considering his background.
And then, to quote Kyran, we have Gaynor Faye who won the first series... To be fair, it wasn't so competitive then and we didn't really know what to expect.
My opinion exactly.....
I look forward to seeing how Hayley fares on tour in competition with Ray, Chris and Claire.....
1. Kyran Bracken - Despite no performance or skating training previously, some really strong skating and yet approached everything with a great sense of humour which really came out in his performances. And to this day, I think he's done the best ever props routine!
1. Ray (altho im not a fan of him, he is a fab skater)
2. Kyran (loved his performances especially props week)
3. Hayley (great all round performer)
4. Suzanne (never took to her for some reason)
5. Gaynor (altho i liked her at the time, she is technically the worst of the winners imo)
Ray Quinn was the best winner and Chris Fountain the best skater not to win. Both miles ahead of the finalists this year. And both relied on only sheer skating talent and not stage school grins and showmance with dance partner.

Why did you feel the need to denigrate this years contestants? Some people are just bad losers.

Ray is the best, Suzanne is my favourite. I never really understand the insistence on this thread of pointing out who's the best 'technical' skater, it is dancing on ice and not skating on ice.

Nothing to do with being a bad loser - I didn't think any of this years contestants were even close to being as good as Ray, Chris Fountain. Hayley was the best (of a bad bunch) this year but not close to the skill or Ray or Chris.
1 Suzanne and Ray. I can't separate them I really enjoyed both. She is just beautiful to watch and i love how strong her skating is. He was just so far ahead of everyone his year and dance wise he is just brilliant.
2. Kyran
gap
3. Hayley
big gap
4. Gaynor
1. Suzanne - I loved her progression throughout the show, I really felt she was what the show is all about.
2. Ray - His dancing on ice was really great to watch.
3. Kyran - He really pushed himself especially with the performance.
4. Hayley - Everything was nice but nothing wowed me.
5. Gaynor - would never have won any other series!

Kyran Bracken
Suzanne Shaw
are my top three.
Bonnie Langford was robbed - Gaynor Faye should never have won the first Dancing on Ice and, in my opinion, was the least worthy champion.
Ray
Hayley
Gaynor

3. Suzanne
4. Hayley
5. Gaynor
Though I can't really remember anything about Gaynor:o
I guess we'll see how good she is on this year's tour;)

Suzanne was without a doubt not the best winner.;)

Clare's my favourite ever female but Chris was much better.
Kyran
Ray
Gaynor
Suzanne
Hayley
My preferred order, although I do think Chris Fountain was one of the best skaters not to win too!
2. Kyran
3. Gaynor
4. Hayley
5. Suzanne
Chris would be number one if he'd won like he should have
Ray is the best
Hayley is the 2nd best
Kyran and Gaynor weren't as great as those 3 imo. Although I remember rooting for Kyran that year.
I always got the impression from him that he knew he was the best and that he should have won. He was great, but that put me off him a lot.

2. Ray
3. Suzanne. Easily best ever female winner.
A bit of a gap now...
4. Hayley
And an even bigger gap....
5. Gaynor
2. Kyran
gap
3. Hayley
big gap
4. Gaynor
I do think Clare is the best not to win as well.

I'd also have Clare as the best not to win.
