Oh dear. Direct-to-video British gangster rubbish financed by some city trader who wanted to be an actor. A screenplay with the F word in every sentence (the writer has his name anagramised on the credits).
The tortuous production history sounds a whole lot more fun than the movie. You can read about it here:
It was so-so. It had a good cast (Robert Deniro, Tommy Lee Jones, Michelle Pfeiffer) but the story was very slow. It's not something that I'd care to see again.
Honestly plain good fun. Mostly enjoyed seeing old London. Recognised some places including the crime novelist's building, the staircase, Holborn and the Wapping stairs. As for the sheer number of kids running through various streets of London? Impressive. How the hell did they manage to co-ordinate on that scale? As a whole, I really enjoyed it. Makes me want to watch It Always Rains on Sunday (1947), Waterloo Road (1945) and Passport to Pimlico (1949) again.
What I didn't like has nothing to do with the film: the striking resemblance between Stanley Escane (as Roy, Joe's doubting-Tom milk bar friend - the one Joe has a street fight with) and R. J. Mitte (Walter White's son from Breaking Bad) distracted me from the film quite a bit.
Funny Bob Hope/Bing Crosby film - the first of their many "ROAD" movies that they made throughout their careers. While filming they ditched the actual script so most of the things you hear onscreen were ad-libbed - although they also recruited help from their personal joke writers as well. That's one of the reasons why this movie is all over the place and has no sense of direction. It's not their best "ROAD" film but it has its charms.
Possibly one of the worst films I've ever seen. Terrible acting and script.
I found it to be ok - nothing great. It lacked a sense of humor which would have helped it greatly. I wouldn't own it, but I'd watch it again if I catch it on TV.

Demolition Man - silly but fun, altho I wasn't convinced by Bullock and Stallone being a couple - they didn't suit each other 7.5/10
The Selfish Giant (2013) 8.5/10
I just woke up the entire house laughing like an idiot. Still sniggering now.

Awful. I have seen nearly ever musical ever made and this has to be ONE OF THE WORST to ever be made.

Some silly stuff to establish the characters before we get down to the torture stuff.
