I too am aware that there will be an extra local show specifically for Cornwall, to satisfy the speech requirement. I can't confirm whether it's drive or breakfast.
It doesn't seem clear yet whether this will be broadcast from the Heart station in Exeter or the existing Atlantic FM studios.

On the contrary, Global have made it very clear that it will come from Exeter.
Atlantic HQ will just be a sales office, eventually sold off for something smaller no doubt..or working from home and reporting into Exeter no doubt...
Out of interest, during this interim period, are Atlantic using the log for the
Former Chrysalis stations or the one for the former GCap stations?
From what I've been able to tell, the music sounds exactly the same as what airs on the old Plymouth Sound frequencies, so that would indicate GCap.
BTW, what will happen on a Sunday afternoon between 4pm and 7pm? After all, Pirate FM airs the chart down here, and I'm not sure that Heart would be allowed by the syndicators to air the chart at the same time as Pirate.

Yes they will.
Up here in Glasgow, Real Radio, Capital and Clyde 1 all take the chart.
Also, correct me if I am wrong but is it not Global who syndicate the show?
James, you may be the man to fill me in but am I not right in thinking that the provision and taking of one single chart show is some kind of pan-industry agreement?
It WAS a pan-industry agreement back in 1985 when the original David Jensen programme launched as there was technically only one commercial operator in any given area.
What changed the game was the arrival of small-scale and regional stations in the 90s and 00s, these stations couldn't take what was by then the Pepsi Chart with Neil Fox as only one station could broadcast the show to any given TSA. This rule didn't change until 2003, when Hit 40 UK arrived, and Emap's stations (as was) broke away with The Smash Hits! Chart - stations had a choice whether to go with either offering and it was at this point small-scale stations either took Smash Hits or Hit 40 UK.
The big change arrived in early 2006 when Unique bought in The A List and Fresh 40. I believe both shows were scrapped by early 2008 when GCap took over production from Unique, leaving Hit 40 UK as the only chart show.
Fresh 40 came from Kiss 100 and went out on Kiss, Galaxy and other CHR stations.
The A List came from Heart 106.2 and went out on AC networks such as Heart (then of course made up just of 3 regionals) Real etc.
If anything A List was a little bit ahead of its time, given the later roll-out of Heart across much of the old ILR patchwork. Had the A List stayed I imagine it would be a far bigger affair now.
They score over Heart for being 100% better at news but musically although they have larger playlists than Heart the music played seems to contain far too much disco/dance music instead of something that would appeal more to the 30+ audience which I believe is the target?[/QUOTE]
See now whenever I have heard a Tindle news bulletin ( it is all central from Ipswich now for news ) they may be more local yet they are just as short as Heart's in fact I tested it one day and amazingly Heart were going after Tindle had stopped.
Music wise - Tindle are copying song for song and their on air imagery is just abysmal.
Yet it does work for many and we all have our own views

I have no problem with short news bulletins. With good writing you can get 5 or 6 stories into 90 seconds. The issue comes when the content is "formatted". When Capital started networking they had 30 second bulletins with the requirement for one local, one national and one showbiz story - no exceptions. This was bonkers and put the station on the verge of being in breach of OFCOM's localness guidelines. Capital eventually changed to 70 second bulletins and now generally have more local content.
Any other Heart stations saying there will be an announcement at 8am Tuesday? Or is this something to do with Cornwall possibly? Clutching at straws just a tad maybe!

Probably to do with Whose On Heart, clues or a winner now it's reached the total?
The end is nigh....its now "The heart of Cornwall - Atlantic fm" Feel sorry for dj's still trying to provide a good local service, knowing they have about 5 weeks to the dole queue

Yes, especially feel sorry for the guy who does FloorFillers on Friday and Saturday nights who used to play some great dance remixes and obviously brought in his own music to play, but now has to be fed Heart's 'Club Classics' playlist.

Capital's news is embarrasingly bad - heard the 8am news on EM today and it was really pathetic - 3 stories of about 10 words each and absolutely zero from the region it should be serving.
Pity that Atlantic will be globalised and the heart will be ripped out of it just like what Global have done in the East Mids.

I'm pretty sure that was even on Heart at about the same time last night during Club Classics as I was in the car.

The more bums on seats the better.
Everyone except Kerrang and Smooth have it here.

Is it because they can't receive network programmes?
