I'm not scottish, but I'm a big fan of haggis/blackpudding and chips from the chippy. Our chippy menus can look pretty short compared to many I've been to in Scotland and the far north of England.

The chippies in England don't seem as good although I find them a bit cheaper

Which part of England have you left beautiful Scotland for?

Never been a resident per se, but did once spend six months North of the border as well as spending some cracking holidays up there. Two things I miss, sailing out Burghead on a small fishing boat and cycling around the Outer Hebrides. Actually,it's three things if you count missing visiting all the little distilleries.

I missed bugger all when I lived outside of Ecosse. There's Glaswegians every bloody place you go.

I bet half the penguins in the South Atlantic sound like Rab Nesbitt.

It feels different... England palpably is another country. When I say I was previously in the Highlands people react amazed (but in a nice way) as if I've said I've come from Outer Space :D

Scottish black pudding. It doesn't have the huge lumps of fat that black pudding here in Yorkshire has, and the Scottish stuff is also flavoured with spices.

Proper Scotch Pies, although some supermarkets sell decent versions, they aren't quite the same.

Tablet. Very difficult to get down here now, used to be available labelled as "Scottish Fudge".

Proper Scottish Morning Rolls. My nearest Tesco sometimes has them, but not always. Yorkshire folk seem to prefer the stodgier, doughy rolls they call Baps.

Salt and sauce on fish and chips.

Chippies that open at 11am and stay open until 2am, and sell a much wider range of stuff, including tea, coffee, sugar, bread, milk etc. etc.

Scottish Ice Cream Vans, that also sell sweets, crisps, chocolate bars, bottles of juice (or pop depending on where you are from) and even sometimes tea, coffee, sugar and other essentials. English vans only seem to sell Ice Cream and ice lollies.

24 hour supermarkets on a Sunday.

I love Scotch Pies and have yet to taste a supermarket version down here that's a patch on what you get up in Scotland.

    Chippy sauce too. Delicious!

I am Scottish and live in Scotland, but when I lived down south I missed the big sky and the countryside. So much to do within only an hours drive :)

I don't know if I can still vote in the referendum as technically I'm no longer a resident. Although I doubt my wee vote will swing it for Yes
