Dad's old 02 mobile has died and I gave him one of my old 02 phones (both phones pay as you go) and his SIM card in my old phone won't allow you to make any phone calls, but does receive them and allows you to send text messages! Anyone think of a reason why this is?

His old phone was a Nokia and the replacement (my old one) a Motorola V220.

The obvious answer is that his SIM card is faulty. Or the replacement phone is faulty.
It is possible to limit a phone to prevent outgoing calls, don't think you can do that with a V220 though.
Try his card in another phone.

Tried his card in my phone and it won't work in that either! His card worked fine in the Nokia.
