Im coming down to London for the opening weekend of the Olympic games. I have tickets for the arena on the Saturday, but not the Friday. I would like to get as good a view of the fireworks which will no doubt accompany the opening ceremony and wondered if anyone who knows the area knew of any good vantage points, or even any local areas theyll be putting on areas where you can watch the ceremony perhaps on a screen and also be in a good enough place to see the fireworks.

Many Thanks

I don't know about good vantage points, but on the link there is information where the screens will be. http://www.london2012.com/join-in/live-sites/

Sadly I will be at work and will miss it.

Ah brilliant - thankyou for that link!!

There seems to be a live area at Victoria Park, I wonder if this will be the best place to view as it seems to be closest to the Olympic Arena.

Unfortunately the Olympic stadium out in East London is on fairly flat land and I cant really think of a location which would have a good vantage point.

I do think watching on one of the big screens would be a good atmosphere.
