A Scottish guy has placed £100,000 on Murray to win Wimbledon which would net him £450k.

He's going to lose his £100k

Djokovic will win this year. :)

Perhaps he is glad it's not Nadal. He has lost the first set.

Why has the fact that he's Scottish got anything to do with it? Why not just "Man loses £100,000"?

Well his thinking could have been influenced by patriotism I suppose. In similar fashion, quite a few English people would have bet on England to win the World Cup. Generally speaking. England tend to be at slightly lower odds with UK bookmakers compared to the rest of the world for tournaments as a result of that kind of thing. This guy's bet on Murray is obviously a much better gamble than that, but the fact he's Scottish could well have played a part in him deciding to make the bet at all.

So totally misleading headline. Scottish guy hasn't yet lost the money, only that the op THINKS he will. So fairly pointless thread at the moment.

    Good luck to him.
He must be able to afford it.
    I'm gutted if I lose a tenner.
    :-)

Ouch, I thought this was about Gordon Brown selling the gold reserves again.

Four words and we're not sure any of them are correct. Thread title fail of the day LOL.

Good luck Andy Murray. A professional who gets stick from the public even when he does well.

You can not be serious!

    :D

Murray won't win it, was just a one off last year. :p

I don't think he will this year either, but I think hes capable of more than a one-off
Andy needs the need to win like a fire in his guts... which I think hes lacking this year
Hes been there, done it, got the £8m sponsorship deal
But I hope Im wrong ;-)

What's wrong with saying Scottish? It's not an insult you know.

Nothing really but we don't know from the story that he IS Scottish. We don't even know whether he's a "he" or whether s/he's lost yet.

True! Let's refer to them as the Scot as the article does.

It calls him a 'Scottish punter'. That kinda suggests the punter is Scottish...

The Scot is Andy, not the punter.

That's funny. I thought they wanted to remain anonymous. Did Ladbrokes provide a description?
