I'm amused whenever a pundit is introduced as a "body language expert". this usually means: nlp nutcase.

That Graham bloke of Jeremy kyle's supposedly an expert in his field- this is despite him holding various unaccredited qualifications straight out of a cereal box.

The late Kim Jong-Il was also an 'internet expert'.

My favourite expert is Simon Calder.
He is trotted out on TV and radio when a travel issue needs to be discussed, always has the info to hand, offers good suggestions and does it with humour.

My least favourite is Rosy Millard.

Of course they can be. Sometimes the word expert does get exaggerated though.

The press and CTers seem to.

I enjoy when, for example, either one of those will get an expert on say irrigation to discuss some crack pot theory on solar flare activity destroying us all.

My girlfriend's Mother is an expert. Looking at photos of her from the 70s with her pert B cups and cracking figure on display I'd have jumped at the chance to have a go. Sadly though, they ain't as pert these days.

Volcano experts are my personal favourites. When they are not all much in demand when an unpronounceable volcano in Iceland erupts, they are off chasing Klingons in StarTrek.
