Character Assassination of Jefferies

To all intents and purposes this guy is a good guy and once again I find myself disgusted at the media's assassination of some person.

To me he sounds like a dedicated teacher, eccentric, ---yes, a bit, gregarious, theatrical but not a murderer.

The more I read the more it comes across as the police not making a lot of headway and so going for a soft option, to keep the media dogs and the public ones for that matter at bay.

The heart ache they are causing the parents with this ploy.

So what if his hair is blue or purple or whatever, so what if he knew/knows a pedophile, we all do, so what if he use to throw chalk at pupils heads, sounds like an old fashion teacher to me.

This man might be a little bit of a attention seeker, so what, that doesn't give the police not the media the right to haul him up and over for public scrutiny, to hang him out to dry because he is a little odd, who should we be to judge.

The police may charge him with a crime but it won't be for murder, dig deep, they may find something,----so it won't be a complete waste of time.

IMO, who did it?--- the keys left in the flat,---- a knock on the door, a random killing.

If/when it turns out he's innocent what recompense can he expect for the hassle the police have put him through?

    That proves it then.

Not even worth having a trial.

Just sling him straight in jail and save the cash

Please tell me you've never done Jury Service

It's dreadful the way the media are reporting this. I thought they had to be discreet because of the difficulty of assuring he has a fair trial, if it gets that far.

What happened to innocent until proved guilty? We live in barbaric times.

Sorry, but we live in the least barbaric times of all. We really do.

24 hour news would not be 24 hours if it just presented the FACTS of matters

so they have to resort to speculation and tittle tattle to fill the time on most occasions

    take this case
    the Mcanns
    the SNOW
    the economy
the queues of people taking their money out of banks
    the Ash cloud
    wayne rooney re-signing contract saga
    etc

whether the word on the street is that this guy is suspected to be guilty but we just carnt nail him or not, the coverage is disgraceful

Oh, right, thanks for setting me straight.

When in human history has the Western world ever been less barbaric?

My history may be weak, but surely the 21st Century, whether globally or just nationally, is the most civilised era yet....

It's like the ducking stool, isn't it? Even if he's innocent his life's been ruined.

Is this really down to 24hr news? I'd say it's more to do with corners of the media - particularly the Sun - just being scum.

Remember this happened before with some shelf stacker accused of prostitute murders and it turned out it wasn't him.

Apparently he's interested in Christina Rossetti. No, actually according to the Mail he is OBSESSED with Christina Rossetti and Rossetti was, according to the Mail, OBSESSED with DEATH, therefore, according to the Mail, Jefferies is OBSESSED with DEATH!

I am ashamed of the media in this country.

I know. Imagine an English teacher having an interest in literature- and even a favourite poet! Clearly a wrong 'un.

Fred West was nice to his neighbours and those who knew him professionally.

Salt of the earth. Lovely fella. Would do anything for you.

Personal testimonies or what people think of people means diddly squat when it comes to murder.

I have been rather disturbed at the subtle demonising of this suspect that began shortly before his arrest. Unflattering and sensational descriptions of him that are prejudiced and parochial.

I wish to remind tabloids that we are all weird in some way. Half the population never marry nowadays. Family life for many reasons is depleted. He is flamboyant - well let's arrest Elton John and Graham Norton for the same evil crime. He had blue hair - then quite a few grandmothers should be in the dock too.

Naturally he could be guilty of this poor young woman's death but seeing as the worst has happened, murder, the next worse thing that could occur is a missed opportunity for justice for the Yeates family. If this trial by press continues, this is what will happen.

This is very true, and the guy may have done it. But to read the papers, you'd think it was all done and dusted, with THEIR evidence (as opposed to that available to the police) consisting entirely of "he was a bit, well, y'know..."

Yep. 21C witch trial. Drown him, let's see if he's really innocent, hell we can always apologise if we get it wrong.

Maybe you did it? You're trying to distract and divert attention to this guy. Your name is Simon so it must be you. Never trust a Simon.

'Herald, read the accusation!' said the King.

On this the White Rabbit blew three blasts on the trumpet, and then
unrolled the parchment scroll, and read as follows:--

'The Queen of Hearts, she made some tarts,
    All on a summer day:
The Knave of Hearts, he stole those tarts,
    And took them quite away!'

'Consider your verdict,' the King said to the jury.

'Not yet, not yet!' the Rabbit hastily interrupted. 'There's a great
    deal to come before that!'
