First dance at a wedding?

Need suggestions!

What did you have, if you had one, or what would you love to have if you ever got married?

Is Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics a good choice do you think?

Why would you need suggestions? Surely the whole point is to pick something personal to you.

It's a great choice if it has personal meaning to the bride and groom. It's a terrible choice otherwise. This applies to any song / tune.

Haha wow I got shot down in flames there!

Was just trying to start a discussion and I'd love to hear other people's stories of their first dances... is that OK? :(

Sure it's ok but when your opening phrase is
    Need suggestions!

I think we can be forgiven for giving the responses we did.
    Need suggestions!
seems the key phrase I'm afraid.

Anyway, Agadoo is a personal favourite :p

I was thinking Saturday Night by Whigfield - then everybody can join in if they want.

My friend was married last january and he had gangnam style, but danced on his own with his little brothers before the real first dance.

I wouldn't say that the lyrics to 'Sweet Dreams' are terribly apt for a first dance at a wedding TBH but then again perhaps they mean something special to you.

I guess it's all down to personal taste. I would go for something like -

    The Way You Look Tonight
    Endless Love
    Rule the World
    Chasing Cars
    Come What May
    Everything I do
    Wonderful Tonight

Then again - I'm no young thing and unlike to remarry - what do I know?

I dj'd at a wedding at which 'Madness - You're an Embarrassment' was the chosen first song. The couple fitted the tone of the song perfectly, and a huge fight broke out halfway through the night and the police were called.
I'd requested payment at the start of the night thankfully.

Dear me!:D But then I suppose you can't really open proceedings at a wedding with 'Stairway to Heaven':p

I always think 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - U2' would be quite amusing.

Oh I love that song. :)

OP just choose something you and your OH both like. I know that's easier said than done though - I'm struggling to think of any songs I'd have myself.

In the unlikely event I ever get married , then my first song would be -

"If I Had a Gun" - Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds

    Its a beautiful song . :)

I'd have to go outside for that. The thought alone makes me cringe.

When my best friend married last year, her brother performed 'Just The Way You Are' by Bruno Mars acoustically. I'm not a massive fan of the song but it was nice and fitting for the moment.

Me and the OH had a first dance at our engagement party, at the DJ's demand, and chose 'Only You' by the Flying Pickets. I've always thought I'd like 'Love You Til The End' by The Pogues at our wedding but its a bit long... I don't know if I'd want everyone looking at me for that amount of time when I could have picked something shorter :o

This is why I said "need suggestions..." we are struggling to agree on anything!

I would like Just The Way You Are but OH hates it.

Our favourite song together is Sweet Dreams - travelling the world is apt, but the use and abuse stuff probably isn't! It's hard work!

Is I've Had The Time Of My Life too cliché do you reckon?

Yeah, that's more a funeral song.

:oThis is going to sound really bad but I actually can;t remember what our first dance was to.

    ...we've only been married 2 1/2 years:eek::o

In my defense I found the whole thing horrible, I hate being the center of attention and my husband dragged me onto the floor even though he knew I didn't want to do the whole first dance thing:(
