My Samsung phone has died!

I have a very basic Samsung phone (just does calls and texts)
Usually when it says 'SIM card memory full' or whatever I just delete a few messages, etc. and it's OK. This time it wouldn't let me and just froze.
I took out the battery and SIM and then replaced them and plugged into the charger but nothing happened.
Any advice?

My wifes phone did that (Samsung), it eventually gave up the ghost and I had to replace it with a Monte Slide. She's not into smart phones in any way....
I have good news to report - my dear little phone has made a miraculous recovery! Leaving it a bit longer on the charger (as gomezz suggested) did the trick.:)
