Two British fighters got through to the finals of the Women's Boxing World Championships today - Lisa Whiteside in the Flyweight, and Sandy Ryan in the Light Welterweight. Unfortunately, they both got beaten, so two silver medals was the final haul.

Another thing - the World Short Course Swimming Champs from Qatar (well, at least not so bad for swimming as for others sports). Not much TV or even streaming coverage as far as I can see, but quite a few of the big British names from the summer will be there

    http://www.swimming.org/britishswimming/news/swimming/gbr-swimmers-set-to-face-rest-of-the-world/22645

The British Gas GBR Swimming team comprises:

Adam Barrett - British Gas GBR National Centre, Loughborough
    James Guy - Millfield
Adam Peaty – City of Derby
    Ben Proud – Plymouth Leander
Chris Walker-Hebborn - British Gas GBR National Centre, Bath

    Jazz Carlin – TBC
Georgia Davies - British Gas GBR National Centre, Loughborough
Fran Halsall - British Gas GBR National Centre, Loughborough
    Hannah Miley – Garioch
Siobhan Marie O’Connor - British Gas GBR National Centre, Bath
Sophie Taylor – London Aquatics Centre

More about the World Short Course Swimming - Eurosport have the rights, but they aren't showing it live in the UK because snooker 24/7. It might be live on the Eurosport Player, though. There are various highlight packages over the weekend.

First set of medals will be tonight, news here

I didn't get to see any of the swimming last week, but Britain's swimmers continued their good run - 7 silvers and 1 bronze and 18 British records. Particularly good were Adam Peaty and Siobhan-Marie O'Connor, both got 3 silvers.

    Full list

Adam Peaty: Silver - 50m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke and 4x50m mixed medley relay
Hannah Miley: Bronze - 400m individual medley
Jazz Carlin: Silver - 800m freestyle
Siobhan-Marie O'Connor: Silver - 100m individual medley, 200m individual medley and 4x50m mixed medley relay
Fran Halsall: Silver - 4x50m mixed medley relay
Chris Walker-Hebborn: Silver - 4x50m mixed medley relay
James Guy: Silver - 400m freestyle

The 127th IOC Session is underway. So far, 13 of the 40 proposals in 'Olympic Agenda 2020' have been approved (none rejected yet).

Of most interest to me is that the 28-sport cap in the Summer Olympics has been replaced by caps on athletes (10,500) and events (310). This means that the likes of squash may have another chance to join the programme in a relatively short space of time.

More news about the British team for the opening leg of the World Triathlon Series

Jonathon Brownlee and Jodie Stimpson will lead the British Team. Alistair Brownlee has an ankle injury, and Non Stanford and Helen Jenkins are both fit, but still in training.

The races themselves are sprints, not the full two-hour distance.

The FA have scrapped plans to send GB Men's and Women's Football teams to Rio

The home nations couldn't agree on it and the FA abandoned the idea yesterday.

Both teams reached the quarter finals at London 2012

Free and totally legal sport all week on Youtube - www.ehlhockey.tv/ the European Hockey League where men's club teams battle it out for the annual trophy, with 4 quarters of 15' and shoot-outs after draws!

Think we should have a single thread where viewers can alert us to what's on live, free and legal?

Would be a great idea, I find it hard to follow sports like sailing, diving, martial arts etc where there is a lot going on and it's hard to know what are the important competitions and which aren't

Can you do one, perhaps in the "Broadcasting" thread, as readers associate you with important info rather than me? Once it's up and running, peeps can chip in with stuff they find. Would be a very useful addition, and may surprise those that thin telly sport is Sky and BT only!!

*Ask the mods to make it a sticky??*

British Gymnastics have named the team for the European Championships later this Month in France. This championships have individual All Around and Apparatus titles up for grabs.

With no team competition and on the back of his British title on Pommel last week Louis Smith gets a call up to the British team for the first time since London 2012. With Berki missing from these champs it may be a chance for Louis to finally get a major individual gold medal (and it could be his last chance as for the Worlds in Glasgow later this year and Rio he probably won't get selected as the team event will be a big priority). Max Whitlock has also been selected although he's been ill recently and tweeted earlier this week that he had been diagnosed as suffering from low level glandular fever. I wonder given this if he will just do Pommel rather than All Around. Ordinarily he'd obviously have a great chance of winning All Around gold but I'd rather he didn't push his body too much as we want him 100% for Glasgow later this year and of course for 2016. The rest of the men's squad is experienced too with Sam Oldham returning after his nasty ankle injury he picked up at the Commonwealths.

The women's team is a mixture of youth & experience with last year's breakthrough star Claudia Fragapane joined by Becky Downie. Also making their senior Team GB debuts are Becky's younger sister Ellie & new British All Around champ Amy Tinkler.

    Several things this weekend.

Round 3 of the Triathlon World Series from the Gold Coast, Australia. Live on BBC Red Button and BT Sport on Saturday morning. Johnny Brownlee looks like he is going for the overall World Series win this year, but no sign yet of Alistair or our top-ranked women.

    02:00 Women's race
    05:00 Men's race

Round 3 of the Modern Pentathlon World Cup from Rome
No details about web streaming, but it will be here
    https://www.youtube.com/user/uipmchannel/videos

BT Sport have started showing the highlights of earlier rounds of the World Cup, so there is some coverage on TV again.
