Matt Smith is itv's best football presenter. They could do far worse than giving him the job if they did jettison Chiles. Think itv try too hard sometimes. Always seem to imitate rather innovate. All the ex bbc anchors, commentators and studio guests they've gone through is ridiculous. Just making the same mistakes if they did the same thing with sky employees instead.
Some may say he's unfunny, but he does make the pundits laugh. Compared to the BBC, at the Euros, ITV had more of a relaxed atmosphere when it came to presenter and pundits. BBC is very stale, slow and lacks any form excitement. They make a football match seem dull!
No - in the vast majority of cases, it just means they "defaulted" to the BBC, knowing they wouldn't have to watch any adverts there. You can only really make a valid comparison during simulcasts when the levels of advertising are the same.
I'm sure some people do have valid reasons to dislike him and that's fine. What I can't stand is when people regurgitate those views word for word for the purpose of cracking a joke at Chiles' expense in order to look cool in front of their Internet buddies.
I didn't say in this thread. I meant some of the people who say things on Twitter, like "Cause of death: Adrian Chiles.". Really unnecessary and troll-like.
How can you say the two Alans are funny. They're about as funny as a funeral. Linekar can't hold an interview (as he proved during the Olympics), and the 'comfortable' you talk of makes me want to go to sleep. Television is meant to be edgy, that's what keeps producers on their toes.
Well said. It seems to be cool to hate ITV and especially Chiles. He does a good professional job. His presenting style isn't everyone's cup of tea, but that's nothing unique for Chiles. For any presenter there will be some people who don't like the person's presenting style.
I bet you don't see a good thing written about Matt Smith either though do you, because Matt like Steve Rider is just a bland safe pair of hands who are like wallpaper TV.
Stan Collymore had a go at TV people who'd call Falcao a 'prospect' on Twitter. He works on a station which describes Hazard as an 'unknown quantity' so either he thinks the people he works with are idiots, or he's jealous he's not on TV anymore.
I think Chiles is fine. Colin Murray is far, far worse, and completely overused by the BBC on TV and radio,
Safe television is boring! Experimentation makes television more exciting (like C4's House Party).
