They should all be Asda by the Summer.

Not all of them will be ASDA, just some.

47 out of 193 stores had to be sold, the rest will all be rebranded as Adsa.

Some have already started, but it's probably quite a big and expensive job. Redesigning the layouts, new uniforms, staff training in the way Asda do things, restocking, new signage, changing tills etc. etc. etc.

Of the three Netto's round here one has already started the changes, staff now wear Asda uniforms and according to the local paper, the store will close for a refit and redesign in the next month or two. The other two stores haven't started changing over yet though so I suspect it is being done gradually.

Asda bought most of the Netto stores in the UK and are re-branding them slowly. That's it basically.

Slowly eroding choice and destroying communities.

It has been reported in plenty of news sources over the last year: Adsa/Wal-Mart bought the UK operations of Netto, the OFT said 47 stores had to be sold, Asda will convert the stores to its format during 2011.

Does this mean Netto are going up market then?

No, it means Netto will no longer exist in the UK.

This is the first of me hearing about it, but I did that magical thing where I read what other people are saying and use my brain. From what I read, I've worked out that Asda has bought over Netto, am I right?

I don't believe you don't know what Netto is, they're everywhere, advertise in newspapers and are always shoving their leaflets through doors.

Doubt very much all the stores will be done for summer, apart from the six already started the rest are on hold until at least after easter.

Netto is a Danish retailer which trades across Europe. They had 193 stores in England and Wales which were sold to Wal-Mart last year. Those stores will be converted to Asda during this year.

Their advertising would only be known of to those with a store in their locality. They haven't advertised nationally.
