But is that just the modern attention span's response to a traditional costume drama? With six episodes, they can only go so far in the plot with each one.

How did his daughters die? Mark Rylance has a great face. Like a smiling assassin.

If this had been done by ITV we'd have had half a dozen bonking scenes by now.

Sweating sickness I think. There was a picture of Mark Rylance in the Radio Times in costume. He looked incredibly like the painting of Richard iii, he was born for that part.

His dad is a real charmer.

A seat in Parliament...there's likely to be a vacancy soon in Doncaster North.

For a mad moment I honestly thought he was going to use his Brody voice.

He has quite a weak voice for playing Henry. Not much authority in it.

I'm probably wrong here, because i'm using C J Sansom's Shardlake novels for reference, but I think Henry actually did have a highish voice. What little we saw of DL as Henry, I liked.

I really enjoyed that, I put off reading the book until after the series, so can't say how faithful it is, but I thought it was great.

That was every bit as good as I thought it would be. Brilliant television. I think I may have to watch it again, I enjoyed it that much.

I, too, haven't read the book yet, it's been on my shelf for over a year and I still haven't got round to it. In a way I'm glad I haven't, this way I can enjoy the adaptation in its own right and still have the books to look forward to afterwards.

I haven't read the books, the story is interesting and there was a nice sense of place and atmosphere.

But is Mark Rylance really going to make the same gormless expression in response to every eventuality for the next five weeks?

They should have got Bryan Cranston to do it with an American accent.

I suppose my image of Henry is tarnished by previous portrayals.
