    Agreed.

I liked MTV Dance until October'ish 2007 , 2008 and 2009 had too many on and off periods , since then it's not been the same.

I got a few DVD recordings from the MTV Dance Devil era these tracks (2004-2005) :

Basement Jaxx - Oh my Gosh (The European Dancefloor Chart)
Stonebridge feat. Ultra Nate - Freak On (The European Dancefloor Chart)
Alice Deejay - The Lonely One (Trance Classics)
DJ Sammy - Sunlight (Trance Classics)
Route 33 Feat. Alex James - Looking Back (Move ya Feet!)
Deep Dish - Say Hello (MTV Dance Anthems)
Weekend Players - 21st Century (Chill Out)
Jakatta - American Dream (Ibiza Rewind)
Brancaccio & Aisher - It's Gonna Be (A Lovely Day) (MTV Dance Anthems)
Unkle Feat Ian Brown - Reign (Chill Out)
Sneaker Pimps - 6 Underground (Chill Out)
Oceanlab feat Justine Suissa - Clear Blue Water (Trance Anthems)
Marly - You Never Know (MTV Dance Anthems)
Scent - Up & Down (Move ya Meet)
El Loco - Ibiza (I got mashed in...2002)

I miss the obscurity like this ! especially the ones in bold!!

MTV Dance and all of their other music channels stopped playing the obscure tracks after 2007 onwards , MTV Dance still had abit of obscurity in the themed nights they had in 2008 but that never lasted long , since then its been pretty much chart-dance and it's remained that to the present day and most of the chart-dance we have now is poor , basically throw away!

Sneaker Pimps - 6 Underground (love that song!), since you mentioned them surprised "spin spin sugar armand van helden mix" has never been played (or has it?), the other one that springs is armand van helden koochy (that was like a near porn vid getting played during the day :o lol - 2000 it was out) as well as Brainbug - Nightmare

Thats what I laugh at though its like they are trying to forget all the obscure tracks its in the past but todays present music is better (yeah right)

Yeah actually it has been played on MTV Dance before but during the first logo era around 2002. But was most recently played on the now defunct Flaunt in it's 'Classics' show in 2008 ;)

Wow it is that bad?? Now I see it - another channel I never had on VM - so why are the channels that poor? The archives are there and available so surely use them??

What I have got to laugh at is how the channels do "special" shows on programmes such as "X Factor" or the most recent on Heat is "The Big Reunion" (ITV) countdowns, they can play the artists involved on these shows but if your looking to find obscure tracks/artists from that era as well, they won't play? Is this what they have become and again it comes back to the lack of variety out there

It's ridiculous how the obscure stuff is shunted away from the music channels now , VH1 could be a great channel if they made the most of the MTV archives because it is meant to appeal to the older market , not sure if it is anymore given that the channel is now like MTV Hits most of the times.

This is what VH1 used to be like !

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g47HSVt_ykc

Even Magic hasn't played this one and the type of music they play it should but they rather play just the same popular songs from the same artists , they even avoid the lesser known tracks from popular artists too , even Britney Spears - Stronger i haven't seen in a long time as it's always Baby one more time or Toxic !

I mostly have seen it turn worse on VH1 more than anything if I am honest - if you look at the amount of advertising for us to go to MTV (on every ad break) - seriously why??

VH1 would be a great channel for more obscure tracks if they are afraid to play it on their other stations, surprised MTV Classic is not like that (not a channel I have)

That is what annoys me with VH1 I assumed it was meant to cater to the older demographic (and some young if not interested in todays music) but its like its became another MTV clone with the ads it puts on the channel has became a joke - I just find VH1 has became the most outdated channel out there, yet Vintage TV is doing their job on playing some obscure tracks and obvious ones

VH1 was my 2nd most watched music channel back 14 years ago i went off it around 2004/5 when they started to play less music and more programming and to think one time VH1 was next to MTV at one point at 441 , when MTV was at 440 at the time before the Big EPG Reshuffle Sky had in 2006.

I think that is what put me off VH1 was programming excluding "behind the music" pretty sure reality was on there at one point, I started moving to VH1 when MTV started its reality shows then I knew I had to go, I will say I found MTV Base/Dance "different" at that time but then since "crossover" music has happened the channels are the same, VH1 just seem stuck on playing the same "classics" but nothing new (hence I question why no graphic updates or advertising their own shows), yet the updates happened at same time as MTV oddly enough!

But why do they need to play more "classics" as its easter it should be all year round and not stuck til 10pm or just after

I remember MTV Dance with the Devil - it was OK and I believe that was the time they added likes of Eminem and Flo-rida on it (i'll take blame on Flo-rida being played on there as I requested it a few times on Weekender BUT that seems to be the start of playing rnb on it?) but now the playlists are that obvious! I still think artists such as Jason Derulo/Tinie Tempah should be more on MTV Base and MTV Dance is just plain dance music - I find it an embarassment anytime I see Cheryl Cole on MTV Dance/Base she ain't a good singer or dancer get a grip! In general all channels need a major overhaul on playlisting

I am going to sound weird/bit off topic but when was the last time MTV Dance played say People Hold On by Lisa Stansfield (the remix from 90's) or even tin tin out, guess will be they aint thought of/locked in archives to UK viewers or aint digitised!

Flo Rida wasn't even famous until around 2010.

It's mostly charts on the channels today - Pop Powerlist on 4Music - does anyone actually care who has the most money?

I've realised Clubland are playing 'classics' as they have a new CD out on Monday:o

Ahhh, the devil - the yellow man must have been MTV Hits.

Stansfield was on MTV Classic not long ago - don't know which song though. Tin Tin Out I haven't seen for ages anywhere,

Sadly, I think VH1 is poor but better than MTV Hits/Dance/Live, which are appalling.

Stronger is sometimes on Vault and was on heat the other day on Britney:Reload - apart from that - it's usually the two you mention or Scream and Shout, unless it's a program or The Vault. Heat played Piece Of Me today and the other day Gimme More a couple of times. Womanizer gets played sometimes, but she has many that never get played unless it's a special programme or literally a Britney programme.

I think it's the same for all artists though - they just seem to play the same songs over and over.

Thats right as thats when MTV Dance was bringing in RNB artists to the channel and seems like its continued (not having a go at the artists on the stations if I am honest its just stupidity of it all)

I remember that, from 8am-1am VH1 was nearly all celebrity/reality shows from the American version. Some of them like Bands Reunited were good, but others like "Flavor of Love with Flavor Flav" were absolutely awful!

VH1 UK got rid of all those programmes in 2008 when the current green version of the logo was introduced, and the channel has been really neglected since then. I do think the music has got better over the last few months, the themed charts have some surprising tracks and slots such as 80s/90s/00s Disco don't suffer from the ridiculous playlist errors which used to happen every week.

Hopefully they will launch the new look soon.. I think someone said problems with the graphics have caused a delay, they should be seriously impressive after all this time!

Stronger is a very underrated song. Another Britney song you never hear is Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know. I don't ever remember hearing it on radio or TV. I used to hate the Oops album but I rediscovered it a few months ago and it's actually quite good considering it came out in 2000. I heard Piece of Me and Womanizer on VH1 a few times and I heard I'm A Slave 4 U and (You Drive Me) Crazy as well. I heard Sometimes one Wednesday morning on VH1's Guess The Year as well. I had an appointment with my lecturer that morning and I had the TV on before I left for college. Work Bitch seems to get a lot of airplay these days. Sometimes it's the clean version and other times it's the uncut version. I personally prefer the explicit version.
Oh I don't know - i'll ask and get back to you - think it was Baby One More Time.

EDIT: It's Baby One More Time album and it's a minidisc  - this is the item

    http://i.ebayimg.com/t/BRITNEY-SPEARS-BABY-ONE-MORE-TIME-MiniDisc-Rare-MD-MiniDisk-/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/YpMAAOxyY7FRBZ6G/$(KGrHqJ,!oQFE!I3qT7qBRBZ6GZ59!~~60_35.JPG

    I can't imagine a posh lecturer liking Britney :o

Now THAT's a rarity! A friend of mine had a MiniDisc player because she had to have one and I think it eventually ended up in the tech scrapheap. I have the original BOMT album on CD. I doubt my lecturer likes Britney. She comes across as a posh highbrow type who would probably be more into the opera or classical concerts than Britney :o She lectures in Law if that's anything to do with it :p

A couple of months ago one of the lads in college claimed I was sleeping with her (I'm a girl btw!) and I told them I wasn't. I don't know why they ever thought that. She's not my type. She's too serious for me whereas I've got a pretty weird sense of humour and can be very sarcastic and sharp-tongued at times. I say what I think. She also comes across as posh and probably into highbrow things whereas I'm more interested in pop music and pop culture. She also dresses very posh whereas I dress very casual and often very scruffy-looking :D Definitely not the typical Britney fan! Could you imagine me dating someone like her?

Yeah, not seen that played, sorry.

AATW own Clubland - they also own Planet Pop, AKA, NOW.

Zooland Records are owned by two of Cascada - not Natalie the lead singer though. Zooland and AATW have often worked together, which is why Cascada mainly get played on there, although it's strange as they had two singles last year that never even reached Clubland. Such little success since Evacuate The Dancefloor makes me wonder if they really bother with the UK Market anymore.

I admit their characters were funny on MTV - but now its just a boring, the new update on the channels are impressive but at same time the channels have no real "identity" as each channel had their own "version" of song titles/artists etc

Regarding Lisa Stansfield no worries I just know I ain't seen that version ever been played especially on MTV Dance, as I know VH1 don't touch it as they play the Coldcut version (oddly)

Apologies I thought it was CSC but thanks for correcting me its AATW that own those channels you listed ... ok cool :)

I think they know they do have "fans" in UK but they know they have a channel willing to play them even if its that small, yet if you look at MTV/Bauer they were the ones that would back artists to the end no matter the track (well in my opinion) but now it is "selective" I think

MTV is terrible now. Bauer isn't any better - full of Celeb nonsense.

MTV/Bauer are very selective. Their are songs in the charts now they won't even touch, even if it's doing better than their beloved Beyonce, Pink, Perry, Rihanna, 1D etc

Ah right. I haven't checked that channel for a long time so I never saw it. I do like that song though. It's definitely one of her most underrated singles. None of my friends know it unless they're fans and I don't know many Britney fans in real life :( I do have one friend who likes her though. Why do they cut it off a minute before the end? That ruins the song >:( Did they play the clean or uncut version? I think MiniDisc headed for the tech scrapheap rather quickly as iPods and MP3 players came on the scene a couple of years later and they took over.

I don't know, I just couldn't imagine myself with her :p What would a posh lecturer want with someone like me? She wouldn't stay up all night with me watching Britney videos. She'd probably tell me to turn it off all the time. I nearly quoted a Britney song to her a couple of weeks ago  What do you mean about the collab? Are you suggesting I work with her on another research project or something? :p

MTV is terrible now. Bauer isn't any better - full of Celeb nonsense.

MTV/Bauer are very selective. Their are songs in the charts now they won't even touch, even if it's doing better than their beloved Beyonce, Pink, Perry, Rihanna, 1D etc

MTV is beyond terrible - unbearable Bauer again is just as bad - and who gives a damn about some of these celebs, yet the only celeb news we got was MTV/VH1 news now its plastered all over :(

MTV/Bauer - who would have guessed that as long as its certain artists they'll play the rest will go under (artists) - there must be a deal they done with record companies to be this selective with artists

A treat for long term MTV fans:

    120 Minutes

Monday 5th May, 23:00 on MTV Classic.

Interesting, I'm surprised anyone based in London these days remembers the show. I no longer have Sky, but if anyone could provide the playlist it would be appreciated.
