I was wondering about the icons as well. So you can see thumbnail images now and not just the icons? Haven't tried today yet. Is that some sort of overnight indexing thing I wonder?
Yes, I now have little thumbnails of the programs
Also I have noted the program find search list is empty again.
Yesterday I had done a search for TORCHWOOD, CLONE and BROWN
So perhaps it does only perform some tasks when in standby?
Haven't looked at folders or searching at all yet.
If you create a folder called Films or whatever can you then set a film to record and choose to store it in the Films folder or do you just copy the film into the folder after it's been recorded?
Also, what is the search for? Does it search the TV listings or the stuff you've recorded?
On first power-up mine asked if I wanted to upgrade to version 1.00.02 but selecting yes resulted in a E-05 error code and a reboot. Same thing doing an update from the menu.
All the info I could find is that a download occurred but it could not install. Does the existing firmware still work ? Maybe it was a corrupt download. Have you tried a factory reset?
I too am unable to update and get the E-OS error. I suspected it may have been because I had one cable, but today connected the LNB1 OUT to the LNB2 IN and the update is still failing, so it doesn't seem as simple as using the second tuner.
(The update doesn't download at all -- the progress bar stays on 0% and the error comes up after a few seconds.)
Has anyone had problems detecting USB drives? I've tried a stick and an external hard drive (both formatted for Windows) and can't find a way to get them recognised. I am pretty sure I'm doing the right thing but the manual doesn't go into a lot of detail here!
Apart from that the only problems I'm having are a lack of thumbnails and of course the E-OS error mentioned above.
Of course, having old software may not be helping! Is a CHANGELOG for the software available anywhere online?
Apart from these problems it's a fantastic box ... going from a standard Sky box and a VCR, the HUMAX is so much better in virtually every way ... and the picture (and EPG) looks great, even on my cheap CRT TV.

I'm not sure that I would be comfortable looping LNB1 OUT to LNB2 IN.
Surely you would then get into a situation where both tuners on the Foxsat PVR were fighting for control of the single LNB .

This is documented in the manual as the correct way to run the box with one cable from the dish. In fact, the manual doesn't even suggest you can run it with a single cable without the loopthrough!
It actually works incredibly well with the loopthrough (and surprisingly well without). I was able to simultaneously record BBC3 and BBC4 while watching Five last night without the loopthrough (they share a transponder) ... today with it, I have even more flexibility.
This box has been designed very well to work with one LNB. (Well, except for software updates maybe. <g>)

That's very interesting, it looks as if the icord record 4 (on 2 cables) is present from day 1.

I had to reformat my drive to FAT32 (it was NTFS). Vista will only format in NTFS or exFAT, so I had to use the HP USB Format utility.
With knowledge of from which transponder the software update is transmitted and if LNB1 were tuned to a transponder in the same band and same polarization then with LNB 1 looped to LNB2 would this allow a software update?

The date & Time of the recording would be useful on the second screen...
Automan.
I think I have found the reason....
Option is missing when unit is playing back and maybe also when recording...
Automan.

And I can confirm no option to delete a recording when the box is actually recording another program.
Bug or design limitation?
Automan.
Sounds silly to me. Sky+ managed to delete while recording no problem. Hopefully it's something that can be corrected with an update.
Have you got both sat cables connected? Others have reported this error when they only had one cable connected.
Interesting thanks. I only have one cable connected for now, will be making up some more this week.
The existing firmware seems to work ok, I wonder what version 002 brings to the party...
Cheers, Duncan
Recording Has Failed.
Unknown reason.
The odd thing also is that it seems to have recorded and and I am playing it back....

There will be as soon as you create one

I was thinking more on the HUMAX support site somewhere.
(I hope not to have the old software long enough to make one myself!)

PLEASE PLEASE Bob_Cat tell me this has been fixed. How can Humax produce a machine these days and not incorporate the latest technology.
To me this is a deal breaker as I really don't want to manually switch inputs to my Sony Amplifier and then on to the TV.
Just a thought.
Hardly - all it shows is that lnb pass through works.:)
